An Automotive Legacy

My name is Marcos Regalado. I’m just a blue-collar plumber from San Jose, California, chasing a dream that goes far beyond wrenches and copper pipe. I work hard every day for my family, and when I’m not on the job, I’m in the garage — building, restoring, and collecting the cars I love. One day, I hope to open a car museum in Mexico. For now, though, I’m building that future one Datsun at a time.

Why I Chose the Datsun Bluebird SSS

Datsun has always had a special place in my heart. I remember seeing those old Datsun commercials and thinking, “One day, I’ll own one of those.” The more I learned about the brand, the more I wanted to buy them — especially the rare ones like the Bluebird SSS and Series 1 240Z S30. The Bluebird Triple S (SSS) was always at the top of my list. When I finally got my hands on one, I knew it deserved a full transformation.

The Restoration Journey – From Rust to Showstopper

When we started the restoration, the car was in rough shape. Troy Ermish, a well-known name in the Datsun world, helped with the project. Troy handled the sandblasting and confirmed what I feared — this car needed everything. But I wasn’t going to let that stop me. We rebuilt it from the ground up

We dropped in a brand-new Rebelo-built L20 engine, making a powerful 240 horsepower. Every part was replaced with new or upgraded components. This wasn’t just a fix-up — it was a full restomod. It had to be done right, and I’m proud to say we didn’t cut any corners.

This car is all about balance — blending modern performance with period-correct details. We chose Safari Gold paint to honor the car’s heritage, and Carmodz in Santa Clara worked their magic on the interior. From the moment you step in, the car feels vintage yet refined. Every stitch, every trim piece, every panel — it all reflects the love and thought poured into the build.

What Makes This Bluebird Unique

What sets this build apart is that it’s not just a restoration — it’s a restomod that respects the original platform. I took the OEM design and elevated it to its best possible version. This isn’t just about horsepower or stance; it’s about honoring the roots of the Bluebird while creating something totally unique.

What’s Next for the Bluebird SSS?

Honestly? I’m just enjoying the ride. I spent a long time visualizing this build, and now that it’s finally complete, I’m proud to keep it just the way it is. Every detail was intentional, and it feels like a dream every time I drive it.

A Dream Car Realised

For me, this Bluebird was always a dream car. It’s got history, style, and soul — everything a car should have. I’m lucky to have it in my collection, and I hope one day it’ll be a centrepiece in the museum I build back home.
