Hi, my name is Joe and I live in Southern California in the United States. In 2014 my dad flew up to Portland Oregon to purchase a dream car of mine a stock Montego blue 1994 Mazda RX7. The car had 34,000 original miles from the original owner. After I purchased the car my father drove the car 18 hours home to Southern California.

Ever since then, I have been building my car a little more year by year. I have been building the car year by year. When I purchased the car I didn’t really know what I wanted to do with it. I wasn’t sure if I was going to keep it all original or if I was going to turn it into something I loved even more.

Fast forward to now I have taken the car to multiple car shows, drag strip, and road racing events. I am currently on my third engine and plan on enjoying the car at car shows and around town. I don’t plan on taking the car to the track as much anymore because of the increase in price to replace engines.

It doesn’t matter what I do with the car I want to keep the car in my family and home fully can still have it around when I eventually decide to have a family. Many friends and family I am sure wonder why I love cars so much but I guess I don’t really have a good answer. If your reading this magazine I am sure you have a pretty good idea why we do.

Why did you choose this Car?

I became fascinated with the rotary engine in 2004 when my mother purchased a brand-new Mazda rx8. Working on her car over the years with my father and learning about the engine's unique sound, performance, and history intrigued me to want to learn more and own a piece of automotive history.

What makes your car Unique?

My car is unique because the engine is one of a kind. The Wankle rotary engine is not a piston engine. The rotary engine utilizes two rotors that rotate on an eccentric shaft inside a housing to create combustion. This unique design offers a light compact design with fewer moving parts and can achieve a higher rpm than traditional piston engines.

What do you think?

Who did the work, are their future plans?

My father and I have done a lot of work on the RX7 but I owe DNA Garage in Orange County a huge shoutout due to the amount of work they have done on my car. Louis who is the owner of DNA garage has always been there to lend a helping hand while providing exceptional work/knowledge with my Rx7. I had my friend Chris from Wisecraft fabricate my half-roll cage, custom v-mounted intercooler/piping and radiator, exhaust, and shrouds. I couldn’t have done it without you guys. Thank you
