2004 Honda Civic Type R: A Lifelong Passion for Cars
My name is Antonio Diaz, and I’m 37 years old. I’m a Certified Ford Senior Master Technician and have been working in the industry for over 12 years. My love for cars began in my childhood, growing up in Puerto Rico, where I was constantly surrounded by automotive culture. From a young age, I found myself drawn to cars, always tinkering with them and looking for ways to make them unique.
My very first car was a project in itself. I wanted it to stand out, and since I worked on my vehicles myself, I saved money that I reinvested into more parts. Hanging out with older car enthusiasts helped shape my knowledge, and I’m grateful for the things they taught me along the way.
Why the Honda Civic Type R?
Hondas have always been a part of my life, and the Type R has been a legendary model in the performance world. Its history and success on the track inspired me to own one. With this car, my goal was to create a track-focused build, blending JDM authenticity with functional aero and performance modifications. I took inspiration from Honda Racing and Mugen, incorporating parts that enhance both aesthetics and performance.
Unlike many builds that stick to a single brand, my Type R features a mix of high-quality parts from various manufacturers, making it truly unique. The car is still relatively new, which limits custom fabrication, but I’ve managed to install some rare and distinctive components.

Future Plans for the 2004 Honda Civic Type R
I plan to push my Type R even further by participating in local HPDE events and track days, where I can truly test its limits. I also enjoy showcasing my car at local auto shows to share my passion with fellow enthusiasts.
In terms of upgrades, my next steps include:
-
Additional suspension components for improved handling
-
A roll cage for enhanced safety
-
Performance seats to complement the build
-
Turbo intercooler and injector upgrades
-
A more efficient intake system
The car already feels amazing with its current bolt-ons, but I’m always looking for ways to improve its track performance.
Shoutouts
A huge thank you to my supporters and the car community that keeps me motivated:
Dream Car?
If I had the chance to own any car, it would be either a Mazda RX-7 FD or a Honda NSX. Both are legendary Japanese performance machines with timeless design and engineering excellence.
