A Passion for Cars That Started in Childhood
Hello everyone, my name is Andrés Garcia. I'm 31 years old and work as a supervisor. My passion for cars started early—when I was just 8 years old, I attended my first car show in Mexico City. At the time, the most modified cars were Volkswagens like the Golf GTI, Jetta, and others, and I dreamed of owning a Golf R32 one day.
Years later, I finally made that dream come true. I bought an R32 and worked on it so I could take it to my first car show—Tuner Gallery Chicago. Being part of an event for the first time was exciting, but I also felt a little out of place. I watched teams with their members having fun together, and it made me realize that I wanted to be part of a community that shared my passion.
Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, I had to sell my Golf R32. It was tough, but eventually, I was able to buy another car—my Nissan 370Z.
The Start of My 370Z Journey
The 370Z already had some modifications when I got it, so I wasn’t starting from scratch. That worked in my favor because I was able to take it to my first event—Import Face-Off. This event marked the beginning of a new chapter for me and my car. It was here that I met four people who would become incredibly important to me—Iván Díaz, Arturo Cuevas, Joaquín Cuevas, and Carlos from CTB Garage.
During the event, I had a conversation with Iván Díaz that led to an incredible opportunity—I was invited to join Team NVUS Chicago. Being part of this community means everything to me because I finally found a group of people who share my love for cars and the culture surrounding them.
Why I Chose the Nissan 370Z
I fell in love with the Nissan 370Z after seeing it in drift championships and car shows. The aggressive styling and modification potential caught my attention, and I knew I wanted to build one in my own unique way. Every time I see my Z in the garage, it fills me with excitement. Taking it for a drive, lowering the windows, and enjoying the breeze—it reminds me why I put in so much effort.

The Future of My 370Z Build
I’ve put a lot of time into modifying my car with the help of friends, while the previous owner contributed to the trunk setup and a few other details. Looking ahead, I’d love to upgrade the engine—either a swap or a supercharger setup. This would not only enhance performance but also create a cleaner, show-ready engine bay.
Advice for Fellow Car Enthusiasts
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that you shouldn’t rush the process. Building a car takes time, and every mod should be something that makes you love your car even more. Ignore the negativity—there will always be people who don’t understand your vision. At the end of the day, your build is for you.
