My name is Conor Cornhill. I'm 24 years old. I was born in Exeter, Devon. Still living in Exeter, I work as an ambulance care assistant for a private ambulance company. Outside of work, I like to go to the gym, go for drives with friends, work on cars, look after my tropical aquarium and spend time with my partner and baby girl.

I bought my ST in July 2020 as an upgrade to my 1L EcoBoost fiesta and haven't looked back. The first test drive was very memorable, everything about the car is 10x better than my old Fiesta. The power delivery, suspension, looks and the colour! In my opinion molten orange is one of Ford's better colours and exclusive to the MK7! The first modification I carried out was the induction kit, I bought the ITG kit, by far the best kit out there for these cars! The noise is just addictive, even now after 2 years of ownership.

Next came the Air suspension, which I bought off a friend who had the kit fitted on his ST. I paired the air ride with a set of retro TSW Venoms, the fitment wasn't too crazy but was an interesting look. I searched quite a while for a set of decent venoms as they aren't the most common wheels! The build sort of just progressed from there. I never can stick to a plan when it comes to cars, so I just went where the car took me and went with the flow. I'm sure there are a few people out there who will agree that that is the best way!

After putting on the front splitter and the rest of the low line kit, I wanted to liven up the front end, so I fitted a kruise sport front grill and removed the lower grill. I then matched that with the kruise sport fog light covers, which make the front end look much more aggressive. The simple lower grill delete also adds a bit more function as it exposes the intercooler a lot more.

The next area I wanted to address was the performance. They are nippy cars from the factory, but I heard that these cars can really be livened up with a remap. I opted for a Revo stage 1 map with an SPS switch that allows me to switch between fuel types and the stock map. I went down to MJPerformance in Plymouth for the remap as Martyn from MJP really knows his stuff when it comes to performance fords, especially the MK7 ST.

I paired the map with a 70mm R-sport intercooler, Vudu rear motor mount, R-sport crossover and a Simpson race catback exhaust which had been previously supplied and fitted by MJP. The exhaust has a repackable rear silencer much like a motorbike exhaust, so packing can be taken out and put back in. I wanted something different to your usual miltek or cobra exhaust. It sounds great and not too invasive which is what I wanted as I daily drive the car.

This year I changed the wheels to JR15s as I wanted wider wheels and something with a bit of dish, they really complete the stance look! I then had to add rear camber to the car to get the tuck required for the wheels and I completely revised the boot build going for a leather stitch in orange and a BAF motorsport K-brace supplied by JC Clubsport. I then had the K-brace sprayed in Molten Orange to match the air tank. All my paintwork has been done professionally by my friend Jamie who is an old school friend. I needed to keep the rear seats in as I have a baby girl, so the K-brace just completes the look I think.

The boot build was a challenge as I didn't have a lot of room to work with, luckily my best friend Liam knows more than me when it comes to that sort of thing as he has had previously bagged cars. My favourite mod has to be the exhaust and the remap, both together just completely transform the car!

The best memories I have of the car are the drives up to car shows and the convoys with friends. Driving with the windows down on a summer's day. I live near a lot of coastal towns and Dartmoor, so I'm never short of great roads! One of my best achievements for the car was getting accepted for the top 25 show and shine at Ford Fair 2021. I built the car for myself and I don't go to lots and lots of car shows, so when I get accepted for something like that it's an awesome feeling!

This car has been a nice learning curve being newer than the cars I've previously worked on, but they are cracking cars to work on, being fairly simple and cheap in parts. I recommend anyone to try out a MK7 ST, despite being lower in power compared to a lot of other cars on the road, they really do amaze and really have everything you would want in one package for a hot hatch!

I would like to thank my best friend Liam for all his help, Jamie for providing top quality paint work and my partner Lauren for being supportive and helping me come to decisions with the journey I've had with this car!
