2021 Ford Bronco Badlands AdvanceTrac - Terry Payne

My thoughts for the pattern are the Bronco is a wild horse, and I love Painted Ponies that are multicolour so I decided to make it a camo pattern based on a horse hence the name #renegadebronco, after that, we contacted my body guy Andrew, who had a Bronco that went to Sema in 2021

“Be You, Do You, Don’t Settle. Most of all, be thankful that you can and always remember that someone is watching you. Lead by example.”

~ Terry Payne

My name is Terry Payne, I’m 60 years young and live in Scurry, TX with my beautiful wife Shelly. We own a 2021 Ford Bronco Badlands AdvanceTrac with the 2,3 L turbo 4 cylinders.

We were very lucky to be able to get Donnie Rochin aka @r0cean11 to shoot our Bronco because to us he is the best in the business.  During the day I work as a freight Agent and Broker. I also have a consulting company and just helped my sons start a new Vehicle Outfitting Company called: Wildland Adventure Outfitters. Hit them up for aftermarket needs @thewildlandsco.

I was born in Allegan Michigan and at a very young age, we moved to Big Spring, TX. I fell in love with cars from the time I was old enough to know what they were. All makes, all models, I wanted all of them. Anytime I saw a car at the store I had to have it no matter what it was.

My uncles, grandfathers, and stepdads, all had hotrods. My favourite was a ‘55 Chevy called Rebel Rouser that they used to race at Yellow Belly Speedway in Dallas, TX. I then fell in love with drag racing and the list goes on from The Snake & Mongoose funny cars to Don Garlits and top fuel Dragsters. The older I got the more I got into loving led sleds and lowriders to 4x4s. So as you can see if it was automotive, I wanted one.

I really got into the serious build in 2019, with a Jeep Wrangler that ended up going to SEMA 2019. I was married at the time to a wonderful woman who ended up coming down with Glioblastoma Multiform 4 Brain Cancer. I had been her caregiver for 19 months before she told me she'd be happy if we could ride in a jeep, so I traded off my Dodge Challenger and bought the Jeep. She encouraged me to build it and I think she knew I needed an outlet. She passed away in July and I pretty much used the Jeep to grieve.

This jump-started my love to build. So, my first show was 742 Marketing’s RACEWARSUSA in Ennis, TX. I ended up winning Best Jeep. But the promoter, Jeff Maldonado (@742marketing), was a big influence as he told me “Anyone can bolt parts on a car, it has to be unique and functional “. Little did I know he was right.  Since 2019 I’ve built and sold 24 vehicles,17  Jeep Wranglers, 2 Ram Trucks, & 5 Gladiators, all to get this one vehicle, the unicorn my Bronco.

I was driving a 392 Wrangler on Feb 28, 2022, when I saw Tri-County Ford in Mabank, TX pulling this Bronco out of the showroom. Naturally, I was curious so I pulled up and asked if it was for sale. The young lady told me it was and asked if I wanted to buy it. I called my wife who happened to be shopping close by and she came and test drove it and we traded our 392 Wrangler in. After driving it I said screw the Jeep. I fell in love! I saw this as a stepping stone to getting out of my comfort zone and build what I wanted for myself. I love Fast and Furious movies and thought what would they do if it was theirs and then the build started.

I researched and because it is so new hardly anything is available for it so I got what I could and started to build.  A couple of months ago I took it to FUEL FEST and got to meet Cody Walker. He liked my bronco and I got him to sign my dash!!! I’m still on Cloud 9 over that. After that show, I knew I had to go Bigger so I contacted Jason with @justthedipz and had him plastic dip the whole Bronco in camo.

My thoughts for the pattern are the Bronco is a wild horse, and I love Painted Ponies that are multicolour so I decided to make it a camo pattern based on a horse hence the name #renegadebronco, after that, we contacted my body guy Andrew, who had a Bronco that went to Sema in 2021, he helped me figure out the best solution for the lift and we went with 4 wheel parts adjustable coil-over. Then @Massive_Speed_System came out with the rear control arms and man did that bring everything together, this thing drives like a dream and will go wherever I want and not stumble doing it.

When I see this vehicle at the shows I love to sit back and see what people say, good or bad. I appreciate it, it drives me. Also, this is a daily driver we bought this Feb 28 2022 with 17 miles on it. It is now at 5,800 miles and still going up. So, to be able to compete in a daily driver and still win is huge

We have been asked to bring it to SEMA 2022 for @pistol.petes.racingliquids. If I win or lose I know that I did this, it’s my build, not someone else’s. The support is out there; friends, car enthusiasts, and critics. What you take from what they have to say is up to you, but give them a listen.

Because of the builds I’ve been doing, I’ve been given a chance to build something that will definitely catch your eye when you see it and it will be seen all over the world, but that’s another story.

The advice given is don’t settle for what everyone else does, make it for you. They aren’t paying for it and if you like it do it! When I told people what I was doing they laughed, ridiculed and even told me I was a joke if I did it, but when I beat them at the shows they changed their story.
