Brandon Hemedinger   - 2004 Subaru Forester XT

The first time I ever saw a lowered Forester, it was game over. I had to have one. Took me about 10 years, but I was finally able to afford a second vehicle. So the hunt started for this specific model. Slick top, manual, turbo. Knowing they share the same chassis as the sti. So, with huge aftermarket support. Modifying it was inevitable.

“Don't suck…”

Mostly Texas born and raised. I've found success in many things over the years. Between the culinary world and exploring many passions. I'm just another guy fulfilling his childhood dreams. Turning the posters and pages out of tuner magazines that were on my wall into cars in my garage.

I've always loved cars and all types of motorsports. There was no person or thing specifically that got me into cars, my dad took me to the library all the time and I was a big picture guy. So naturally, I gravitated towards car books. Top speed records and supercars were hot when I was a kid. Playing with hot wheels, building Supercar and Import models was prime time in my childhood. My tuner magazine subscriptions when I was a teen is what really started to make my love for cars and Japanese culture take over my life.

In retrospect, I probably should have found a better candidate for what the car is now. But it was never meant to be what it is. I was supposed to keep it as a reliable daily. Slowly cleaning it up and making it last forever. Well, I accidentally did that on an extreme level. So, you could say this was my first deep dive into building a car. I've owned and modified a few cars in the past, but not like this. “Full Send” as the kids say these days.

This is definitely an "if you know, you know" feeling. Think about any type of presentation you've ever done or been a part of. That's what owning and building these cars are like. We pick our colours, wheels, stance... Just like someone would wear a specific shoe, or tie. We do these things, not only for ourselves but also to share our style and levels of detail with everyone.

Word of advice; DO YOUR RESEARCH. Talk to anyone that built cars before the internet, or barely had forums to share info. You'll get more help and respect in anything if you do the slightest bit of work before you dive into anything. I love finding less common builds out there. The things you just don't see as often. Though I love some of the more popular chassis and models, I like to do things a little differently. My eye finds those things and I'm attracted to them.

Modifications:

Engine/Drivetrain Modifications -

The whole engine is new and has been built with an IAG Closed deck block. Pistons, rods, stage 3 cams are making easy power. Vibrant, radium, Killer B, Chase Bays, billetworks and Cosworth making the power work and my bay look clean. It's got a rotated Precision 5558 turbo setup with a custom hood dump and Tial EWG. The power is limited by turbo and fuel. Full E85 on about 26lbs is good for 521awhp and 431 torque. STI swapped 6 Speed & a short shifter was one of the first things that were done once the car went under the knife getting setup or the engine built.

Exterior Modifications -

The car originally came with a few pieces of the Original JDM only option body kit. It's the least common body style, and I loved it so I sourced the complete kit from Japan. This car also came with every door ding and hail dent possible, so it just went through a full-body replacement.

All brand new doors, fenders, bumpers and hoods are all brand new. The whole car was disassembled (besides the engine) and painted gloss black. Then wrapped in Inozetek Crystal Pearl Blue by my local shop Fortune Wraps in the DFW area. Carbon VIS hood, deleted (welded and painted) rear window sprayer/rear wiper, newer gen lower door panels are all nice finishing touches that add the extra sprinkle. We even got the "orange peel" smoothed out on the new OEM bumpers before painting.

The three shops below were all key in making this build a reality. Though many things were done by myself with the help of friends. These 3 shops did what I couldn't do.

The exterior will go through constant change. While the engine bay will be wired, tucked, and painted. The engine will get refreshed, bigger turbo, and have more fuel. As well as a few more esthetic modifications inside the bay.

Shout out to my car club @team_inmotion! Vice President of our team, we're a growing club out of the Dallas area with chapters in Oklahoma, Midwest, Houston and Louisiana. Every person on that team has helped me in more ways than one. If I didn't name every single one of them, it wouldn't be proper. So, my whole team is my shoutout.

The car scene is everything. If you're a car person you already know this. Without it, I'd be nothing. I'm on the side of my goal being to show everyone what I think looks cool. If they love it too, or they don't. We all know we share the same respect in what makes everything your own, your style.

I need an s13 coupe in my life. This Forester is a dream build for sure, and it will never be finished. But one can only build so many Subarus... Nissan is next!

The ultimate dream car from the factory is a Lexus LFA. Funny that I had to add this bc I felt like a 90s sh*tbox wasn't a good enough dream car. But honestly, I'd take the money for that LFA and build 10 dream cars for the price of 1.
