"It even scares me sometimes—but that edge, that untamed power, is exactly what makes it so addictive." – Armando Salerno
From Dukes of Hazzard to the U.S. Army
Armando Salerno is a lifelong gearhead with a passion for cars and community. Born in New York, raised in Puerto Rico, and a proud U.S. Army veteran, he grew up surrounded by automotive culture in all its forms.
His childhood was steeped in classic car culture—watching shows like Dukes of Hazzard, Starsky & Hutch, and Knight Rider. He spent countless hours drawing cars and dreaming of becoming a designer someday. Like many kids, he imagined himself one day owning a supercar. While that dream evolved over time, today he takes pride in owning a car that truly fits his needs—and that passion for cars has never faded. Now he shares that passion with his family, bringing them along to shows and meets, passing down the same love for cars that shaped his own life.
Why the Scat Pack?
The Scat Pack legacy goes all the way back to the muscle car era of the 1960s and '70s—when Dodge's performance division created some of the most legendary vehicles in American automotive history. When Dodge reintroduced the Charger in 2015 with a Scat Pack trim, Armando found himself drawn to it immediately.
Sure, he could have gone with a Hellcat—who wouldn't? But he wanted something different. He wanted a platform he could build into something truly unique, something that didn't just come from the factory with a nameplate but earned its reputation through blood, sweat, and boost. In 2019, he came across a great deal on a brand-new Scat Pack and pulled the trigger. Just two weeks later, the project began.
Stage One: 600 WHP Daily Driver
Armando took the car to Gearhead Fabrications, a shop well known in the Mopar world. There, he had the car equipped with a ProCharger P1X supercharger, pushing it to around 600 wheel horsepower. He drove the car daily like that for three years—commuting, running errands, hitting shows on weekends. But eventually, the urge to evolve it became too strong to ignore.
Stage Two: Apocalypse Rising
In 2022, Armando decided to buy a separate daily driver so he could fully commit to building the Scat Pack into something bigger. That's when he named it Apocalypse.
"I've always been a big Marvel fan, and the character Apocalypse from X-Men: Apocalypse inspired the name—it just fit the vision."
He returned to Gearhead Fabrications for a complete overhaul. The engine, transmission, and fuel system were torn down and rebuilt from the ground up. The ProCharger was upgraded to a D1X, and the motor was fully forged with Diamond pistons, H-beam rods, and a custom Gearhead Fabrications boost cam—built to handle up to 1,200 horsepower.
After the rebuild, Apocalypse put down 800 wheel horsepower on a Mustang dyno at 16 PSI. And there's still room to grow.
Air Ride and Aesthetics
Next came suspension. Armando decided to go with air ride, installing Universal Air airbags paired with Airlift 3H management. The adjustable setup lets him tuck the Ferrada wheels for shows, then raise it back up for street driving and performance.
From there, he added Carbon Addons throughout the interior—dash trim, center console, and a carbon steering wheel—elevating the cabin's aggressive aesthetic.
One of the biggest transformations came with the exterior. He worked with Wraptek to design a completely custom wrap. Sitting down with their designer, they created the look the car wears today—featuring the iconic Scat Pack bee integrated into a pearlescent white finish. When the light hits it, the car gives off a subtle, shimmering glow that really sets it apart.
Then it was time for wheels. He didn't want something common—he wanted something that stood out. He went with Ferrada FR4 wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson Street Comp tires, giving the car a bold and distinctive stance.
To finish off the interior, he wanted something unique and aggressive. He found exactly what he was looking for with Braum Racing seats—red leather with diamond stitching that perfectly matched the rear seats. It tied everything together.
What Makes Apocalypse Different
People appreciate this build for what it truly is—an absolute beast of an 800 WHP Charger that stands apart from the sea of typical Hellcats dominating the streets and the scene. It's raw, it's aggressive, and it commands respect in a way that's uniquely its own.
This isn't a Hellcat with bolt-ons. This is a Scat Pack built from the ground up with a clear vision—forged internals, upgraded supercharger, built transmission, custom aesthetics. It's the road less traveled, and that's exactly the point.
To be honest, it even scares Armando sometimes—but that edge, that untamed power, is exactly what makes it so addictive.
