Jay Pee Esteban - 1948 Jeep Willys

I chose this car because my parents are from the Philippines and they love this style of the car over there. We would see Willys with big v8s in them and that's cool and all but we wanted a little Japanese taste into it.

I am Filipino and was born in Guam. I came to California in 1999, I am currently in the Dental Field producing smiles on a daily basis. What I like to do in my free time is to hang out with friends and family in the front yard just enjoying life. (We happen to all be into cars)

My Pops is the one who got me into cars. I was never really into cars when I was a young lad. I would always use to play video games back then. But then one day my dad made me help him drop in an sr20 into a Datsun 510. Didn't like it at first until I turned 18. My poops actually got me a 240sx s14 but I never knew about s14s. I only knew about s13s until the kids at my high school were telling me how cool it is. That's where it all started.

I chose this car because my parents are from the Philippines and they love this style of the car over there. We would see Willys with big v8s in them and that's cool and all but we wanted a little Japanese taste into it.

We always have been swapping sr20s into Dates and 240sx/200sx. We wanted to do something that would remind us of the Philippines and with a Japanese taste. So what we ended up doing is slamming it to the floor and putting the one and only sr20. Lightweight and fun useable power. We wanted the car somewhat reliable so left it pretty much stock besides upgrading the injectors and the turbo also it is running a chipped ECU.

Owning this car makes me feel like a superstar, to be honest, lol because it's one of a kind. Everyone here in California would usually LIFT their Jeeps but no, mine is on the floor. Also, you wouldn't expect a jeep with a loud turbo spool and a loud has to blow off valve. Everyone raises their Jeep and does not slam it. Everyone goes off-roading with their jeep, not me. Slammed with an engine swap. It's like a combination of Fast and Furious Collabed with Jurassic Park lol.

My Pops did most of the work. He was the one who made the vision happen. We are not professionals but just building our cars in our front yard means more to us than just paying someone to do it for us. It is perfect to us as it is

MAYBE bigger turbo so we can make it stick out of the hood. Honestly, it's a historic car. These were used in WW2, it would be nice to restore it back to how it came. But do not ever be afraid of changing it. Change is good. Put some personality into it.
