Jude Malaga - Mitsubishi Evolution 8

What got me into the car scene? Well I would say that my father had a great impact in my love for cars today as he was a petrol head, and I also grew within a family who loves cars however, I would also say that like many other car enthusiasts the ‘Fast and the Furious’ is also another big reason behind my petrol head.

Hello everyone,

My name is Jude Malaga, from Australia. I am a former supervisor at a 5-star restaurant.

Instagram: @30_jude

I currently drive an Evo 8, the reason why I drive it is because, it has always been a dream car of mine, I appreciate it so much… It is just a true blessing!

What got me into the car scene? Well I would say that my father had a great impact in my love for cars today as he was a petrol head, and I also grew within a family who loves cars however, I would also say that like many other car enthusiasts the ‘Fast and the Furious’ is also another big reason behind my petrol head.

To be quite honest, I don’t think that my car is that unique! Realistically you rarely see a yellow Evo because, most come in white, black or grey. I really think the yellow stands out from the crowd especially when it comes with a loud exhaust. Who doesn’t love a loud roaring Evo!

Have I faced any challenges? I would say not really… To me every upgrade is a challenge and especially working underneath the car, I don’t have a hoist so it can become quite difficult. My advice on this would be, wake up early, jack up your car, put it on a stand and in undercover garage and work on it. It may take time but it is definitely worth it.

Is my car an import? Yes, my car was imported from Japan. I can’t even understand the user manual! Haha.

I would definitely recommend people buying an Evo 8. What I would say is buy the car you want and whatever is comfortable for you! The reason why I purchased the Evo was because of the 4 cylinder, it makes so much power and it handles extremely well. My Evo is pulling a good 210kw.

Spec list of my Mitsubishi Evolution 8 GSR:

Wheels and Suspension:

  • Cusco Blue Adjustable Coil Overs; and
  • Rays Volkracing CE28N 17x9.5 +22 running 255/40 Tyres.Brakes:

Brembo Brakes:

  • T3 DBA Rotors; and
  • WinMax Brake Pads.

Exhaust:

  • Kakimoto Racing Regu, 06&R CatBack.

Other than the above the car is pretty much stock apart from a bit of tuning and a HKS timer. I undertook all the work myself in exception of the remap.

If I was to get work done professionally, I would most definitely go to Evolution Racing Spares (Sydney, Australia) or Benchmark Solution (Newcastle, Australia).

The Evo 8 was not my first car, in fact my first car was a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer CJ VR and yes, I did modify it. I stanced it, I fitted some coil overs, added some wheels and good tyres, intake and added some camber. It wasn’t quick but the work I did to it was purely stancing it.

I am part of some groups, in fact I am part of a crew but it is a private crew. Not sure if I am allowed to share out the Instagram tag.

I do indeed attend shows and meets. I don’t really attend shows as often as I attend meets. Going to meets is fun, you are around people that actually appreciate you and your build and most importantly makes you forget all your problems, well not all of them but definitely makes things easier for a little while.

My dream car? Well good question. My dream car is definitely an Evo, I would get an Evo at anytime of the day. They are amazing cars.

Thank you for reading my article and don’t forget to give me a follow on Instagram.

Jude.
