Luke Herzog - 2013 Scion FR-S

I have had 6 cars including a lot of B6 A4’s and a Volkswagen Jetta, and all those cars were just winter beaters and then I sold my 1 Audi and decided to put money into getting an frs. Happened to find one just a few miles from my house.

My name is Luke Herzog, I'm 20 yrs old, I’m from Middleville Michigan and I am a tech at Fox Subaru in Grand Rapids Michigan. I drive a static 2013 Scion FR-S. I have owned the car for the oncoming of 4 years now. The car was purchased on August 1st 2018 and that’s the day I hit one of my goals of getting the car I dreamed of building. When I’m not working on the car I usually work, but over the span of the car's life in my hands it has been through many changes. I’m just happy with the way it sits right now. As a hobby, I run a clothing company I started up called “noluck.gg”. The company is just under a year old and I’m working on steadily upping my game.

What got you into Cars?

One of my older brothers' high school friends really caught my eye in the car scene, ever since then I just did my research on learning how to work on cars and how certain parts of suspension work and after getting a little practice really helped out!

My friend Griffin got me into the car scene, he took me for a ride in his 240sx on my 16th birthday and ever since then have loved cars! I wanted a 240sx for a long time but ended up getting an FRS after I saw a few builds that inspired me!

I have had 6 cars including a lot of B6 A4’s and a Volkswagen Jetta, and all those cars were just winter beaters and then I sold my 1 Audi and decided to put money into getting an frs. Happened to find one just a few miles from my house.

Why this Car?

I chose this car because it's a simple platform with a lot of aftermarket parts available on the market for decent prices. It was one of the cars I really wanted to own and knew I could have a lot of fun building it to how I wanted it to look.

Why did you decide to build this Car?

It feels great, I love how it turns heads and makes people think about how it drives, but it’s such a good time going out and showing off the car and just cruising with all my friends. I think there’s a little more I can do to get it to be 100% how I want the car to be, but that’s going to have to be done when I get more free time. I try to keep it simple as a build but love being overboard sometimes too.

What does it feel like owning this Car?

It’s great to see how the car looked when I bought it and then to now see how it looks after putting hours and hours of work getting the car sitting just how I want it. When I take the car anywhere I always turn around and look at the car, such a great feeling knowing I built the car how I want it to look, and not others.

Advice/Tips

If you were going to get one of these cars and make it how I am. I would just say buy all the quality parts the first time around. When you buy cheap parts, they break and make it more dangerous than it should be, so just spend the extra money and make it right the first time.

If you're going to try and get as low as you can or have excessive camber I would really look into getting pbm diff risers and subframe risers, it will save your axles and your diff as it’s one of the lowest parts on the car.

What makes your Car Unique?

What makes it unique is how I drive at a certain height and can still turn, everybody thinks it’s going to break or not turn, but it’s not that bad, it rubs on turns but it’s not bad, I just deal with it and drive the car because it puts a smile to my face
