Meet Jordan McKay – A Joiner with a Passion for Classic Cars
At 23 years old, Jordan McKay, a joiner from Manchester, has a knack for pulling apart old cars and bringing them back to life. Despite not being academically inclined, Jordan's talent lies in his ability to reverse-engineer and reassemble cars with nothing but a Haynes manual and his love for classic cars. With no formal training in mechanics, Jordan prefers to work on his car himself, ensuring that every modification is done to his own high standard.
How a Childhood Passion Sparked a Lifelong Love for Cars
Born in 2000, Jordan’s life has been shaped by cars. From playing with Hot Wheels as a kid to being inspired by films like Fast & Furious and Transformers, his passion was clear from an early age. Shows like Top Gear added fuel to the fire, but it was his dad’s stories about his own cars that truly inspired Jordan to take the plunge and make a car his own.
The Renault 5 Campus – A Project with Personality
Jordan’s Renault 5 Campus came from an owner who, due to health issues, couldn’t finish the build. Seizing the opportunity, Jordan took over the project, transforming the car into a 170BHP beast with a 2.0 16v engine from a Clio 172. His Renault is a Frankenstein’s monster of parts, with contributions from various cars that help bring back the 90s vibes in full force.
Building a Powerhouse – The Process Behind the Build
French cars, especially older models, are often seen as unreliable. But Jordan’s Renault 5 is a masterpiece of power-to-weight engineering, delivering a thrilling driving experience that brings smiles to anyone who rides along. The car’s quirky nature, combined with its raw power, makes it a head-turner and brings out admiration from passersby.

Jordan’s Renault 5 Campus is a constant work in progress. His future plans include adding throttle bodies, a limited-slip differential (LSD), and possibly a wire tuck in the engine bay to further enhance its performance and clean up its appearance.
Dream Car – An Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600
Though Jordan is currently obsessed with his Renault, his dream car is the iconic Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600. Its timeless design and classic Italian engineering are the epitome of automotive beauty for Jordan.
