Care Scene

To be fair I’ve never been part of a car scene, I’ve been to a few ford cars shows as that’s what I typically drove. I’ve owned many XR2, XR3 convertibles and Pumas but have stepped outside the ford brand with Renault 5 GT turbo (great car) and the Mini Cooper S R53. The latter was becoming a bit of a money pit, so for my 50th I decided to get something a little more…. fun!

What to choose!

My search for a fun car was really tiring, I searched around the usual trade places but could not find anything that tipped my fancy. However, I decided the VW Scirocco was probably my favourite, but after a few weeks searching for the right one I was getting nowhere.

Then one superstore shopping trip changed everything, there it was a Honda Civic Type R FN2 in championship white. I’d completely forgot about this car, so I waited for the owner and he kindly showed me around it. One week later I located one in Peterborough for an amazing price and took her home (the long way home).

I will not Modify this car!

Every day I could not wait to drive it and I said to myself there is no way I’m messing with this car, keep her standard……. that did not last long!

Dipping my toe!

I convinced myself that an induction kit and exhaust would add to the driving experience, I was right - the VTEC crossover, the subtle growl of the exhaust made those B Road drives so enjoyable then COVID happened and that changed everything.

I was supposed to be in Vegas!

I was so looking forward to this trip, being waiting all year then COVID hit, everything stopped, lockdown, nowhere to go for the foreseeable future, so I had a pocket full of cash, what do I do? spend it on random stuff? save for a rainy day? or gamble.

All in?

Question, what if I could get the car exactly how I want it, ignore all the negative comments that surround the FN2 and just make modifications just for me not what people say I should do.

Decision made …I’m all in (just like Vegas). Forget the cost, get it done.  I had a healthy budget, so the fun begins.

More Power Baby?

I most likely will be looking for a little more power the Marlin ECU has more to give but for now I’m more than happy with my epic Honda Civic Type R FN2 …hell yeah.

Epilogue

I’ve loved the whole process especially since I did most of the work myself and I’ve still got a few more things planned. I love the car so much, every morning it’s the first thing I look out the window for. Big thank you to all the people who have contacted me for advice and a general chat.
