It’s funny, whenever you’re a kid all you want to do is fit in. The things you buy the things you wear all you wanna do is fit in with everybody else and never be any different. As adults we change, we tend to want things that nobody has that are different. Things that set us apart from everybody else. Sometimes I wonder what made the change and how it came about.
The Build
The car has many 1-off parts and a Pandem widebody kit, Custom moulded in all panels, Fiber glassed painted fabricated. Rucci Guwap Wheels, 20 x 10 1/2 -15 offset front 20 x 13 -44 offset rear. Front splitter, rear diffuser, side, skirts, fender wells, front and back, and all the complete bottom, of the car metal fabrication, custom-made.
Universal air management system, Universal air over to bagged, Struts, Universal air, Rear bag, Custom, engraved, Air tank and air set up via air compressors. Custom exhaust handmaid and TIG welded. All side markers and Dragon Parts 3-D printed. Carbo Fibre parts, Ingen cool air intake, Computer cover, Wrapped air breather.
Mechanically the car is still pretty stock. It’s a brand new car only 3.5 K miles on it have a little bit of warranty left on the car. Whenever the warranty runs out, the module begins Garrett turbo, Catless downpipe, tune, and methanol injection.
I bought a car new on June 19, 2021. Little did I know when I bought the car six months later it would be in the shop getting all chopped up and ready for the new vision. I didn’t drive the car much looking online, looking at different kits, seeing the difference between the kits and how they looked. I decided to go with the Pandem widebody. I liked the lines in the way they made the car look wide and full, but little did I know the transformation that would bring the car to its initial point where it is today.
I like the street hunter kit, it’s got great lines as well. TJ Hunt always makes great kits. they look like they’re made for the car. I reached out to Pandem and ask him about the dimensions of the kit and what it would take to build it from the suspension up to the tires. They were very helpful and gave me all the info. If you notice in the pictures there are no gaps in the fitment. Anthony @todds auto innovations fixed that, and the gas cap was all fabricated as well.
Pandem was very helpful with all the information I needed about wheel size. suspension recommendations, tire recommendations. I pulled the trigger and bought the kit. Six months later. It arrived at my house. In between the time waiting for the kit I thought to myself I could’ve gone with another kid, and been well on my way.
Now the task in line is to find somebody to install it. I called multiple places in my area. I live in the southern state of Mobile, Alabama. There are a lot of custom shops in my area towards my west and Houston towards my east in Florida. All gave me ridiculous prices on what it would take to install the kit to the point where I was ready to grab a saw and saw cut myself. I reached out to my local sound shop UAF in Mobile, Alabama the manager there was very friendly because I was looking for an audio converter for some sound upgrades to upgrade the system. In the process, he looked at my car and said wow these cars are beautiful.
You really don’t see a lot of these cars around. I don’t know why. I informed him that I had a Pandem widebody kit. We could not find anybody in the area to put it on. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a card and told me this guy will do it.
He does great work, are you from the area? I said yes. He said, do you know who sexy Maggie is? I told him I really didn’t know what he was talking about. He informed me that the gentleman that I was fixing to take my car to get it painted and fabricated was the owner of sexy magie. A dodge magnum that is truly a work of art. It has been in multiple shows and countless awards and then a few magazines as well. The Soundsystem in itself is something I really admire.
The subwoofer box is a woman’s but with 2 giant subs sticking out of it. I’ve never seen anything like it.. after leaving the UAF shop, and on my way to meet Todd of Todd’s auto innovations, the bottom dropped out. It was raining harder than it has rained in a long time.
I arrived at the shop in a torrential downpour. Looking in a 4-bay shop, there was only one person standing in a car. He was looking at me like this guy. I know he doesn’t want me to go outside in this rain to talk to him. But he grabbed an umbrella and headed out. He stood next to my car in a foot of water with an umbrella and asked me could you help me?
I asked him what are you doing man? You’re standing at the foot of the water, He said I’m gonna move his car out of the way in his first bay. You can pull in and we’ll talk. When I pulled the car into the shop. He was looking it over first thing he said, nice car man. I said appreciate it dude I want to do something different, He looked at me with a paused look on his face I said OK what you got mine? I said I have a Pandem widebody kit and I can’t seem to find anybody to put it on, can you help me? he asked me if I had some pictures of the car. I said yes and showed him some pictures I had.
He opened up the car door and looked inside and saw that only had 500 miles in the car. He turned to me and looked and said, are you sure you want to do this? I said yeah man it’s too late now I already bought the kit. He said OK, well we need to do something really different with this car. I said, what do you have in mind? He said you need to let me hold it in. I said mould it in.
He said yeah mould it in old school and make it look like it’s part of the car like it came that way. I looked at him with a puzzled look on my face and smile real big and said dude that’s a lot of moulding but OK let’s do it. I got my son to drop the kid off to him while I went back on the rig and that’s one thing I will say about Todd he sent me pictures every week of the progress of the car and the modifications that he had to make questions were answered. Questions were ask we all work for them together over the phone six months later we waiting on the wheels.
Across from Todd's shop, there’s an audio shop. The owner their name is Archie Wright He owns miracle auto works. Through the bill, he had been watching Todd and the progress that we had made and kept looking and asking what kind of wheels I was going to place on the car. I told him that I wasn’t sure. He recommended a different type of wheel that would never be put on that type of car. I asked him what kind he said Rucci’s man. The 20s would look great on the car.
So I started on the wheel quest to look for the right wheel for the car. At that point after looking at so many wheels that have been on these cars in the process I got overwhelmed and started asking my sons and a good friend of mine, Justin Crochet, what he thought of the style wheel that would look good on the car.
We had three choices we chose the Guwap. What’s funny is I really didn’t know what Guwap meant till he told me. I’m an old guy and really not sure when people say words that are new, not old. He informed me the Guap meant money, and he smiled real big and said that’s what you’re gonna have a lot in the car money and boy was he right.
They matched perfectly. I can’t tell you how many people of asked me why I put Rucci‘s on a supra. And my reply is just look at them dude, they look great. And they do. So then the new quest became to get the wheels to fit which they didn’t. A lot of modifications had to be made to make the wheels fit even with a small, low-profile tire.
The intercooler rubbing had a lot of cuts to be made, and a lot of fabrication had to be done in the process. I had initially gone with some K&n coil overs but had no luck with them. The car handled great with them, but was seriously too low and I couldn’t even get out of my driveway. Todd kept telling me to put it on air, but I wanted to keep all of the original suspension in the camber.
So I took his advice and I’m glad I did because it was one of the best things that I’ve ever done to the car. I’m an old-school guy I was just using hard struts never been on air and man I got to tell you if you don’t ever get it, you better get it because it’s the best thing going Ric Flair. I asked Todd and Archie if they knew somebody that could put air on the car they recommended Anthony @ Kc Designs.
They both said he’s a genius when it comes to metal fabrication. And I got to say he is definitely that he is the best that I have ever known or seen, or have done business with in my entire life, the man is truly a metal genius. He’s always thinking outside of the box. And is a perfectionist at that. People send them cars from all over the world just to get them done by him. He is very meticulous in what he does. After hours of work, if he doesn’t like it, he will rip it all apart and start from scratch.
We got together with some great ideas on how it needed to look. He came up with some better ideas and better plans than I’d ever imagined. He fabricated all the inner fender wells all the underneath of the car the front splitter, the bag diffuser, the side skirts All out of his head with metal. It was crazy. He looked at me in like a snap of a finger. It just came to him. He’s like we need to do this.
We need to do that. This would look good. How about if we do this? I said Man sounds great let’s do it. He installed all the air ride reinstalled all the metal fabrication that is done in the car and currently, he is working on the grullon gt8ss replicating a lot of things that we did on the supra. When I got it back from Anthony driving home from the day from the shop. I had more compliments on the car than I’ve ever gotten from People asking me what it was did it come like that how long I had it who who did the work
The final fabrication came from me. Lotta a little tweak and was involved. I started pulling a few panels out of the inside of the car and incorporating the outside colours of the car into the inside colours inside of the car. As you all know, and doing this, attention to detail is the greatest result. I’ve engraved a bunch of things in my life and never have I ever engraved on a round aluminum tank before. My idea of what I wanted and the trunk Was nothing but a dream.
At the time I started, I didn’t know where to start or where the end or how to come in between. I just started. I had just recently got a new 3-D printer and started 3-D printing something I’ve never done before. My advice to anyone who wants to start 3d printing? It's fun and it's not really hard.
It just takes a little patience. But you can literally build anything. I started with the dragon concept because of what the dragon stands for in Japan. good luck, prosperity, good fortune, and protection. I printed a few pieces and laid out some LEDs and grab tank and put it all together including the dragon blowing smoke.. in the end, it’s a dream come true, the car drives and rides and looks amazing.
