A Passion Born from Setbacks
Andrew’s journey with the IS300 began in a challenging moment. He originally owned a Lexus IS300 Sedan but tragically totaled it just months before his anticipated race at TX2K. Instead of giving up, Andrew channeled his determination into finding a new project. That’s when he acquired his 2002 IS300 Wagon. In just seven weeks, Andrew swapped the engine and drivetrain from the sedan into the wagon, making it in time to race at TX2K. This project marked the beginning of his lifelong commitment to modifying and perfecting the IS300.
The Power of the 2JZ-GE Engine
One of the most significant aspects of Andrew's build is the legendary 2JZ-GE engine that powers his IS300 Wagon. Known for its durability and tuning potential, Andrew worked tirelessly to unlock every ounce of power from the engine. Over the years, he installed countless upgrades, aiming to surpass the 1,000-horsepower mark. His research, testing, and networking within the car community helped him elevate the IS300 to a new performance level.
With the engine equipped with Diamond Rebel pistons, BC HD rods, and billet main caps, Andrew ensured the engine was ready to handle the increased power. The headwork included BC 276 camshafts, Inconel +1mm valves, and Supertech buckets. These upgrades, paired with a Precision 8385 turbo and a massive 5-inch intercooler, pushed the IS300 to an astonishing 1,411 horsepower at 53 psi of boost.
