Antru Hoang - 2008 Nissan 350z

Owning the G35 taught me more than I could ever imagine. However, through attempting to build and tune that car I ran into many mistakes and bumps that I couldn't take back. I knew one day I wanted to buy a 350z and do it the "right" way. After I graduated high school, I sold the Infiniti G35. There was no doubt that I wanted a Nissan 350z going into college.

My name is Antru Hoang, I am 21 years old and my hometown is El Paso, Texas. Currently, I am a college student studying Construction Science Management in Austin, Texas. I typically spend most of my time hanging out with my girlfriend, my dog and working on my car of course.

As I kid I really admired all the old school Fast & Furious series and just about any car that was tuned and branded with a Japanese background. I spent most of my childhood around cousins who obviously found the passion to build and modify cars sooner than I did because they were older. Being around them building their 350z's and G35's really mesmerized me. As an eight-year-old, I already knew what car I wanted as soon as I got my hands on a license.

Coming from a family of cousins who all owned and built a VQ or something along the lines of a Nissan chassis, this was a no brainer. In high school, my very first car was an Infiniti G35.

After I owned my previous car, I learned that the platform for building and modifying cars was endless. Customizing my car was more than just making it "cool" it really opened up a lifestyle. As cheesy as it sounds, the friends and family that have spent hours with me under a hood or car really do share a bond that is unbreakable. Customizing my car brought me into a world where I feel connected to others, a place where I felt like I belong.

At the end of the day, it's just a car. it doesn't make me any better or any worse than the person next to me. However, looking at my car feels like looking at my trophy. It is an award within itself. Every time I walk into the garage, I think about the struggles of blood, sweat, and tears that was put into what I have always dreamed of owning as a kid. I am more than thankful to those who have helped/supported me throughout my journey with this car.

Joining the car scene at 16, I learned that Youtube was my best friend. From then on, I learned repetition of turning a wrench became a lifetime skill. All work on my Nissan 350z was done by me, except for the custom paint job.

Future Plans

Building a car really is an endless project with limitless changes and modifications, making every build unique. I have changed wheels and bumpers like shoes in the past, as I get bored of them quickly. In the future, I hope to get new wheels, change the colour (mostly likely wrap), go widebody, and potentially boost it. But for now, the car is mostly complete.

Advice Tips

For anyone looking to buy a Nissan 350z, I would recommend finding one with low miles and one that hasn't been modified at all. In my personal opinion, the 07-08 models are more efficient. They burn less oil and have a bit more power than the earlier models. When looking to buy a 350z keep in mind that broken window motors/regulators/ and chipping interior pieces are all common 350z imperfections that are more than typical for these cars. As we know 350z's have been discontinued, making them more limited as the years go by. Therefore, finding one that is pristine or mint is not common. Shoot for one that has fewer miles, newer years, and a better condition interior.

Shout Outs

I have been a member of the Low-Class Militia for almost half a decade now. I am proud to call them my second family. Our Instagram is @LowClassMilitia, we are lowered car brand/team that is based out of Texas, however, expanded all over the world.

The car scene has brought and taught me more things than I can count on all fingers and toes. But for me, I value friendships and connections the most. The bond that I have felt with fellow car enthusiasts is a bond that I can't relate to anything else.

Dream Car

Just like any other JDM fanboy or 10 year old my dream car is a Nissan GT-R (R35). Since Fast & Furious has been around I've always wanted a GT-R as Nissan has always been my top jdm platform car brand. But for now, I believe that my Nissan 350z is my chi
