BMW E46 Compact Bass Car - Marcio Vieira

Modified cars have been his passion like so many of us for years and this is not his first bass car, the last car he built was an E46 coupe that sadly would never hit the magic 160db that was aimed for.

Here we have Marcio Vieira’s BMW E46 compact bass car, Marcio was born in Madeira but moved to the UK in 1997 and lives in Bournemouth, he got into cars early in life after watching the WRC and in particular fell in love with the Peugeot 206 rally car.

Then we had the fast and furious films and things changed slightly, he got into the modified car scene and things just seemed to escalate from there. Modified cars have been his passion like so many of us for years and this is not his first bass car, the last car he built was an E46 coupe that sadly would never hit the magic 160db that was aimed for.

He chose this car because he has had BMW’s before and loves the way they are to drive and feel, also he needed a daily and these at the time were only £280 to buy. When asked what is it like to own a car this extreme his response was every time he looks at it he thinks of how far it has come from when he first bought it and how much he has learned while building it, he loves peoples reactions when he drives it although not every one of those reactions is positive. The most unique part of the car is the monstrous door builds housing all the speakers and finished in that sultry red paint.

The car is a 2005 model, as far as engine mods go it has very little as it needs to be as reliable as the day it left the factory so it makes it to all the competitions which at the last Emma and proper droppers event it won both its classes and scored a 160db and believe me this car is windy! It has got an updated alternator to keep the system charged up nicely. The whole car has been lowered and has a set of Axe 18’s under the arches, the seats are from a convertible model and leather with electric adjustment too.

The dash is custom to house a tablet and also control the sound system, the roof was strengthened up with steel plates and box sections to help cope with the massive forces involved in hitting the high-pressure levels the car competes to. The system has a Pioneer double din head unit up front that feeds a helix DSP, from there the signal is fed to all the amps for the various speakers (42kw just for bass!) we then have 3 10” mid-bass, 3 6.5” mid-range and 3 bullet tweeters per door and the sound is crystal clear and loud.

There are 4 15” subs directly behind the seats in a wall which is strengthened by a threaded bar that’s as thick as your thumb! He even built a speaker pod on the tailgate which houses another 4 6.5” mid-range and 2bullet tweeters.

What do you think?

When asked about what advice would you give to someone wanting to do something like this Marcio said never put yourself down. Always try to do things yourself and never be afraid to ask for advice or help, online is also a good resource sometimes. True friends are always there to help you succeed no matter what. As the old saying goes Rome wasn’t built in a day if you feel you cannot afford to do a build as bonkers as this financially give it time and do it in stages the goal at the end is worth it so much and the sense of achievement is incredible.

For Marcio, the dream garage would contain a Lamborghini Diablo and Peugeot 206 WRC car. He loves the car scene as it brings all sorts of people together from all walks of life, he enjoys meeting them all and then seeing their reactions to the bass from this car, also exchanging ideas and tips too.

So what does the future hold now for Marcio? Well, he feels he has gone as far as possible with this car so he is planning on doing a Maxpower-style car, possibly a 206 with Lambo doors and yes another crazy install but maybe not as loud as this one.

Thanks and shout outs
