I’ve never had the hatch dyno’d but plan on having the homie Treblic Tuned get it in and work his magic to see what I am making. I’m sure it’s slow! I grew up in Huddleston, VA, a place that consisted of farming, farming and more farming!

The best part about it was the lake I grew up on. My grandparents raised me and they lived on Smith Mountain Lake, a man-made lake and roughly around 500+ miles of shoreline and 20,000 acres of water. It’s seriously the most beautiful place ever, to me at least. I remember growing up and we’d get some heavy-hitter snowfall. We’d sit in the living room looking out at the lake, fireplace going and total silence, just listening to the snow hitting on the roof…it was euphoria!

My first job was around 11 yrs old and I worked for my pop best friend’s restaurant called The Sportsman Inn as a dishwasher. I would seriously save everything I made and my grandmother would take me to the hobby shop where I’d buy model cars. I had quite the plethora of tools, airbrushes and all to get the job done.

I was infatuated with cars, low riders to be exact (maybe because of Cheech & Chong and the “Love Machine”). I’d seriously sit till the wee hours of the morning painting them and modifying them with different stuff and listening to my Sony Walkman. So my love for cars started fairly early!

All the old heads I grew up around. Right down the road from me, everyone would take their cars and race down this sketchy long road across a bridge. They sound, smell and rush from watching everyone rip through there was so much fun to watch. I was immediately drawn into wanting a fun car when I got older. Fun fact, one of my friends that I used to watch race is now on Street Outlaws on Discovery, Larry “The Axeman” Roach!

Why did I choose this Car and Customise it?

I’ve always had a thing for Hondas, and seeing some clean builds in Super Street magazines. The Civic hatch always got my attention. Smooth body lines, small and weighed nothing. Dialed in suspension and a simple swap and you’ve got yourself a fun, mountain-run car that will rip! Plus they are easy to work on and not too costly to fix haha

What it feels like to drive this car?

It’s an awesome feeling to jump in the hatch after work and take windy back roads home. You don’t even need the radio, just the engine alone with the windows down is such an enormous feeling of joy. It’s just you and the car and eating some turns up.

Folks out in their yards when you ride by look up and are like “Look at this twerp and his funny toy car!” I can say it’s something that never gets old, always improving things or adding parts to make things run smoother. It’s almost never ending with these things…any car really!

What makes my car Unique?

I’ve made this car into what I imagined it to be. I try and run different stuff than anyone else. We all know TE37 the world, and I’ve had many OG TE wheels but I went a different route and snatched up some GroupB Nc-01 wheels. I had a good friend named Charlie do my valve cover, and then shipped it off to Joey “Stickydiljoe” Lees of The Chronicles to autograph it. Hell, that in itself completed my car honestly haha. Keeping a car clean and simple I think makes a car so nice. I tried my best to keep it oem-ish. But it definitely stands out from the rest in its own way!

The Work

I luckily had some rad friends that have been in the Honda game for quite some time. My buddy’s Vinay Machhi, Delano Smith, Darell Hodges of DWHPerformance, and the homie Mikey West with his insane suspension tuning skills. Tyler Thurman and Corey Williams of Forest Collision for paint and wiring. YouTube and of course the roots, HondaTech!

Future Plans

I have thought a lot about building this motor and maybe throwing a Wu-Tang war whistle and having a fun turbo car. But I honestly might just keep it na and enjoy it. Maybe get fancy with it and source some Jasma header and  Toda cam gears. Maybe do a nice fuel setup. I don’t know, I gotta ask my wife first if I can keep investing more money haha

Advice/Tips

Whatever you purchase, have it delivered to a buddy's house as I do? That way your old lady won’t know anything about what you buy! Ok, I’m kidding…do it for you, nobody else. Folks are gonna have their opinions, they aren’t gonna like how you did something a certain way. Who cares, you aren’t doing it for their approval anyway! Have fun with it, be creative and just go with the flow while doing it. I did and now look, just some cool ass 40 yr old enjoying his 92 Honda Civic.

Shout Outs

I’d like to give a shoutout to all of my friends who have lent a hand with this car. My good friend Rapp with letting me send stuff I bought online and sent to his house. And especially my wife and kids. They are always pretty stoked when we go for a ride and that VTEC kicks in haha!

My photographer @hunterseyephotography & videographer @dreamshottz. The rad dudes over at @groupb.unltd for the wheels, @modeparfume for producing such stellar products & of course @stickydiljoe. His content is above and beyond with his videos, coverage of events…it’s amazing

The Scene

I don’t really attend many of the local car meets here in my town of Lynchburg, Va. I enjoy going away for big events and seeing everyone’s builds, meeting new people. To me, that’s where it’s at. Good conversations and just all around a great time!

Dream Car

My dream car would definitely be an S15. There’s just something about how aggressive those things look. I’m always looking at others on Instagram and importers like Garage•Defend at what they have for sale. One day you will be mine!!
