Dave, I’m 32 and From Boldon. (I sound like a contestant on blind date)

And this is my Seat Leon Cupra K1

I find my expensive habit of cars through Sales, I work in the energy sector dealing with corporate clients.

Though the work is hard, the benefits of being able to sling a sizable amount of money at cars makes up for the graft. I’ve only been driving for three years, this stemmed from an altercation with a driving instructor when I was 18, the gentleman in question who had zero patience, to cut a long story short, his car keys ended up in a pond and I walked home in a huff.

I’ve been into cars since I was a child, this is thanks to my Mother and my Grandad, my Mam was constantly tinkering with fast fords, Escorts, Sierras, Capri’s none were safe from her. Her love of everything fast became my love of everything fast, although it took me longer to act on it... I’m constantly having to fend her off trying to steal my cars on a more permanent basis for her own personal use, to avail.

Then my grandad, his love was more on the bikes side, that and trucks as he was a trucker for a living, I used to travel with him around the uk from Cornwall to Edinburgh, days turned into weeks And weeks turned into a lifetime and it was honestly a very pure time of my life. On the road with the old man.

Fast forward a fair few years and I’ve made enough money for me first motor, I opt for the well suited Fiesta Ecoboost 1.0 ecoboost model, 125ps and what a surprising little car that turned out to be, it still exists as my daily when my other cars are... being worked on.

My next purchase was my all time dream car A 2000 Nissan Silvia Spec R, obviously as quite an inexperienced driver at this point having a 350bhp rwd drift weapon on the nice wet roads of Britain turned out to be some of the most white knuckle, seat of your pants drives I’ve ever had. So I bottled it... turns out I valued my life a little more than I thought, I went back to the front wheel drive hatchbacks but went for substantially more power.

These guys are legit btw. @thecarwhisperertcw

After the purchase of the Cupra after the sale of the s15 in July/August time, I spotted this Cupra on piston heads and literally couldn’t understand why I hadn’t seen one before. (The K1) not a Leon, I have eyes.

It’s pretty good on power and has a decent spec list, currently pushing around 380/390bhp.

Spec List

  • Welly intercooler
  • Full induction kit
  • R8 coil-packs
  • R8 injectors
  • Rs6 FPRV
  • Stage 2 mapped
  • Coilovers
  • Team dynamics wheels
  • Pilot sport 4’s
  • Custom straight through with milltek oval exit
  • Aftermarket headlights
  • Tinted windows
  • Might be wrapped
  • Custom interior paintwork
  • Double din unit
  • Upgraded engine mounts
  • Stage 2 Sachs clutch

More done, but can’t recall.

So I was getting annoyed with people referring to it as my fiesta, as they (to someone who knows nothing about cars) look similar in that they’re both red, so got to design my own custom wrap for the Leon to make it stand out a bit more. I tweaked with a baseline design I found online a little then enlisted the help of wrap monkey to make the design a reality. @wrapmonkey_

Thanks to pals of mine instantly pointing out it looks themed like Spider-Man, Dennis the menace or Freddie Kruger even, taking the shine off the day I’d looked forward to for a long time but it’s unique, you won’t see another one and it’s mine. It’s my money pit and I love it.

Until it breaks down. Again.
