My name is Kevin Mulaniff. I was born and raised in Buffalo NY and still reside here 28 years later. I started my own performance and fabrication shop called Dog House Performance (DHP). I along with a few friends started out in the garage at my parent's house until we ended up getting the shop we have today.

When we first started we were doing simple mods and repairs, until I met a friend who welded some parts for me and I just had to learn how to do it because of how amazing I thought it was. I went to night school for welding and learned as much as I could and would come home and practice. I've been welding for 5+ years. Now I'm able to fabricate and build all my own parts which is a very rewarding feeling. I own 2 Evo's currently, a 03 Evo 8 that I built for drag racing and a 12' Evo X. Along with a 06 Sti and 10' Ralliart.

When I was young I would come home from school and play Need for Speed Underground 2, and every chance I got I would always choose the lightening yellow Evo 8. For some reason, I was always drawn to it. Growing up there weren't many Evo's in the area as they were still pretty new at the time, but I knew one day I would own one. At 19 I bought my first Rally Red Evo 8 from a friend and the addiction started. Me and my friends all had Evo's and still do to this day.

This car was built in memory and honor of a very close friend of mine, Ciera Schwartz.

She unfortunately and tragically took her own life on October 6th of 2021 and left many friends, family and her dog Axle behind, along with her prized processions, her Evo X and Lancer Ralliart. Luckily enough her family allowed me to buy both her cars of them in hopes of bringing her dreams to reality and keeping her memory alive.

Before her passing, she had told me everything she wanted to do to her Evo in the future, from the turbo kit to the wrap and widebody kit, and with me loving Evo's and building them daily, I remembered most of her plans for it. So me and my guys at my shop set out to make them a reality. I spared no expense on this car as it didn't matter to me, whatever it cost it was getting done. There was a lot of blood, sweat and definitely tears in this car.

When I'm driving the car or showing it off at a show there are many mixed emotions. From being extremely happy and proud of what I was able to accomplish with this build, to sadness knowing it was her car and the reason it was built and now mine.

Everyone always says she would be so happy and proud about how her car came out, and I just hope she is smiling and thrilled about how it turned out. I feel honored to own her car and build it as she wanted. It's a show stopper at every show and driving down the street. Even to this day almost two years later everyone including me still refers to it as Ciera's Evo (Evo Babe), and it always will be.

The Work

All the work from the driveline, suspension, exterior and brakes was done by me and my guys at Dog House Performance. It was a learning curve while doing the widebody kit as it was the first one we've ever done. The whole build took us about 8 months broken up between two years.

The first year during the winter of 21' we set out on the task of the exterior of the car. Over the winter of 22' we decided to give it some power and we built and fabricated every part in-house. The car was tuned by Raif at RRT Motorsports who has been a long time friend.

Future Plans:

In the future, I would like to change up the interior but I'm not sure what direction I would go. Maybe I'd fabricate a simple and clean 6-point cage for it. I've always loved the factory interiors on these cars, especially the leather recardo because on cold days the heated seats are a wonderful feature and very comfortable. I'm not sure I would change much past the point it is at, we built this car as Ciera always dreamed of it. Since she is no longer here I may leave it as it is.

Shout Outs:

  • @Ciera_evox
  • @doghouseperformance
  • @rrtmotorsports

Dream Car:

I'd have to say a dream car of mine is to own a UGR Lp-560 Gallardo 6-speed gated. I've always loved the look of them, and paired with a gated 6-speed. You can't beat it.
