From Field Find to Award-Winning Show Stopper
Jason Berckmans found this 1984 Chevrolet Corvette C4 in a field 4.5 years ago. It wasn't running, wasn't mobile, and was riddled with mice, their nests, and damage from nearly 12 years of abandonment. Purchased during the winter months of COVID with limited space in his one-bedroom apartment, the collection of parts began.
"While my initial motivation was to test my past skills from the mechanical and automotive industry, I turned to the internet for inspiration on how to create a one-of-a-kind show stopper," Jason explains. After endless searching for aftermarket support for the C4 platform, he decided to step completely out of the box.
The BradBuilds Collaboration
Jason came across render creator "Bradbuilds" with a rendering of a C4 Corvette that sparked his curiosity. He reached out, and Brad responded with eager enthusiasm and willingness to work together to modify his design for Jason's vision.
"We came up with the following: a widebody monster which would remain as close to the rendering as possible. With lots of doubt from followers and friends, I considered the feedback and forged ahead."
Jason diligently captured the entire build and restoration process on social media, with many friends and strangers from multiple Corvette forums cheering him on. The car has been featured multiple times by online pages and magazines, including autoevolution, PASMAG, Corvetteforum, and Fuel Offroad.
The 84-Inch Width Tribute
While searching for the right wheels, Jason wanted to honor the "84" by coincidentally making the car's width 84 inches. He opted for massive negative offset Fuel Offroad 20x12 wheels with -44 offset, adding 1.5" spacers to adapt the wheel pattern. "The wheels were the foundational element around which the entire car was constructed."

The DIY Philosophy
"Showcasing the products provided and assisting in selling more of them to car enthusiasts while inspiring others to become more hands-on is my main goal here," Jason says. From hand-soldering 945 individual LEDs to bending custom stainless steel headers, this build represents what's possible when passion meets determination.
Final Thoughts
From a rotted, mouse-infested field find to a multi-award-winning 665HP twin turbo widebody Corvette C4 with custom PCB lighting, hand-fabricated body panels, and an 84-inch width tribute—Jason Berckmans (Jay Roblee-Berckmans) of Rusted and Busted has created something truly extraordinary. Built mostly solo in a two-car garage with a DIY mindset, this C4 proves that with vision, persistence, and willingness to learn, anything is possible.
"With lots of doubt from followers and friends, I considered the feedback and forged ahead." That's the spirit that turns field finds into show stoppers.
