1990 Nissan 300ZX Z32 - 2seater, N/A, USDM - Maciek Matusz

The 300ZX was it, I stopped browsing other cars. After one of the "dead bodies" from the advertisement, I found the other, which I have till now, and taking into account its good starting condition and attractive price, I can say that it was a bull's eye.

I come from Bielsko Biala, a town in the south of Poland, near the Beskidy mountains. I am 29 years old and on a daily basis, together with my friend, I run a detailing studio. My history with motorization began when I was a little kid when my father was rummaging around fiats 126p, Golfs mkI and II, etc. It didn't have much to do with modern tuning, but even tho I spent long hours in the garage.

I will not be special when I say that I caught a huge sneak peek at tuning after the first Fast Furious movies and playing NFS Underground 1 and 2. However, before Fast Furious I was notoriously watching movies related to cars like "Smokey and the Bandit", "Cannonball!" or series " Knight Rider ", "And viper ".

At about the age of 14-15, I went to the first big tuning event "Krakow Tuning Show" and then I was slowly focusing on specific cars, specific ideas, etc. I dreamed about the S13 for a long time, but after reading many topics on Turbokillers.com regarding these cars, I thought it was a bad idea and I just can't afford it. After some conversations at one of the Tuning Shows, I knew that my first car would be the Honda Prelude III, and so it happened. I bought the car before my driving license was approved and I had it for 5 years. Honda has gone through many incarnations, finally managed to visit Raceism events and many other events, and even managed to collect some awards.

The ideas and profitability of tuning Honda came to an end, and also I started to earn a little more. In the meantime, I got into drifting quite hard while having a BMW drift daily, I came to the conclusion that only the RWD car is possible, even if it would be a non-drift project. It was supposed to be an S13, but it wasn't a big visual change after Honda, poor interior and faulty engines. And after seeing a few ads, and a few cars live, I fell in love with Fairlady.

The 300ZX was it, I stopped browsing other cars. After one of the "dead bodies" from the advertisement, I found the other, which I have till now, and taking into account its good starting condition and attractive price, I can say that it was a bull's eye.

The car was modified, because it was bought for this purpose, and it was supposed to be a show car from the start, breaking necks with its appearance. The second thing is that, as you probably all know, tuning is a disease and I can't imagine even my daily being completely stock, not to mention a car like the 300ZX.

Having a car that makes a dream come true is a wonderful feeling and definitely worth every hour and money you put into it. The car evokes very positive reactions in almost everyone, it is liked by both laymen and people strongly associated with the tuning world.  The possibility of entering the largest events in Poland (and not only), general approval, awards, photo sessions and many other aspects make the satisfaction of owning this car even greater and give motivation for further action.

Here it depends on my workshop abilities and skills. As for the concept and assembly of most of the components of the car, I did almost everything myself or with a little help from my friends. However, when it comes to body painting, leather renovation, powder coating, or some thicker engine services, I rely on friendly, proven companies with whom I also work during my studio.

Future Plans

There are many plans, but rather more about details, improvements of what is now to be even more refined and general development of the current concept. Certainly, there will be no radical body kits, big performance sets or entering the racing style. This is not my way and I do not see this car in such a version.

Advice/Tips

Don’t be afraid to get some inspiration, opinions or knowledge from others, whether in the country or in the world, but maintain your own style. I watch a lot of 300ZX from around the world and it's hard to find a very similar one, but in many of them, you can definitely see some elements of mine;)

The 300ZX is a slightly underrated model compared to other Japanese sports cars from those years. However, comparing it to many of them, it stands out with its line and stylistic or construction solutions, which makes it very unique.

The uniqueness of this car also lies in the fact that (at least in Poland and Europe) hardly anyone modifies it more seriously, even if it is in terms of performance. The availability of ready-made parts and tuning solutions is not large, and the prices are very high, so it gives a lot of motivation to be creative and do custom things.

Shout Outs

At the moment, we are not creating any particular group directly here with our local team, but somehow I feel a sense of belonging to the general stance scene in Poland, to the Ultrace community. I make friends and go to events with various people and teams, and this kind of integration suits me best.

I can say that a lot, or actually everything related to what I do with the car, with whom I deal or how I approach my work, i.e. car detailing. Lots of inspiration, knowledge, motivation and, most importantly, so far endless passion for tuning, stance, drift, detailing and many other aspects of our world.

Dream Car

My dream car is definitely the Charger 1969, possibly another muscle car from those years. It has nothing to do with the car I own now, but it is something that has always been in my heart and I believe that someday I will be able to get one.
