My name is Eleanor.

I'm 25 and from Hertfordshire. I currently work as a Senior Customer Services advisor for a large fast food chain.

I drive a Subaru Impreza WRX STI Spec D.

After 4 weeks of looking at cars I finally bought this Subaru Impreza WRX STI Spec D. At the time, the Spec D car stood for discretion. It was made for customers that wanted a powerful car but did not want the big wing and loud exhaust whic the other Subaru's typically have. Only 300 of these cars were made and this one has the optional extra Prodrive pack. When I last checked, only 115 Spec D Subarus were left on the road and 72 of those were SORN (May 2020).

I have owned the car since August 2018. When we bought the car it had a large rear wing, mud flaps, a subwoofer and a Raptor Afterburner exhaust (which was very loud at110 dB!). The car was far from discreet. We were told that no one wanted a Subaru that wasn’t 'in your face'.

We decided that as the car was originally a Spec D we would help it become less of an ASBO and add the dicretion back to it. I've always liked to be a bit different with the things I buy, including cars.

And so it stayed as it was for around 6 months. Since then we have made changes to try to return the car to be as standard as possible.

It no longer has the mud flaps, the sub has gone and now has a lower Spec D spoiler. We have recently bought and installed a Genome exhaust which was shipped from Japan. Although I want to try to keep the car as standard as possible, I have added some small touches to it to make it my own. All the wheels have recently been sprayed, plus the Subaru logos on the centre caps have all been hand painted in teal.

My partner does all the major work to my car and I complete the detail like the painting of smaller parts. In my eyes the car is finished and almost back to standard (with a couple of personal touches here and there). I would like to get the whole car resprayed in the original colour eventually. I hope to keep it as long as possible as there aren’t very many left. Hopefully one day it will become a Subaru classic.

My first car was a Renault Clio. I then bought a Suzuki Swift, which I started to modify by wrapping the roof and side mirrors bright orange! After meeting my partner I decided to swap my Swift for a Daihatsu Copen. This stayed with me for 9 months in which we entered 4 show and shines and won Star Car at Japfest.

My dream was always to own a Subaru so in 2018 I found my Spec D and traded the Copen in for it.

I have not attended many car shows with my Subaru but the best show I attended was the London Motor show with my partners Suzuki Swift. 10 cars were picked from entries online and my partner and I were lucky to get both of our cars picked to attend. My partner (Jordan) runs his own car club called Precision Tuned which, once the lock down is over, we hope to get back to attending car shows with.
