Jonathan Smith - 2020 Supra GR Premium
I love driving the Supra and seeing all the attention it gets. Every time I stop to get gas or attend a car show, I have a lot of people taking pictures and asking me about the car. With the car being on Air Lift 3P suspension, I always get asked “how do you drive it like that?” until I air the car up, which is mind-blowing to some people.

The key thing to know about the 2020 Supra, is that we have both Toyota and BMW to thank for it. The automakers co-developed it together. Toyota wanted BMW’s turbo inline 6-cylinder, so what you have is a shared BMW powertrain (albeit with different power outputs), chassis and interior bits packaged up by a stunning exterior heavily influenced by Toyota’s FT-1 concept.
Toyota branched off for final tuning to give it a driving dynamics feel all of its own. With people, purists, giving this car a little bit of stick and saying it isn't a Supra anymore it's a BMW, its untrue, it may have parts but it still as its history and name, its still Toyota and it is very much still a Supra, but I suppose we are all allowed our opinions as long as we don't force them on others, from where I’m sitting, it’s a match made in heaven.
Purest or not you have got to agree, Jonathan has done a fantastic job with his model, adding these little extras here and there making it his own build, his own dream car, making it a hot attraction at any car show, the photographer as certainly captured it just right doing this car all the justice it deserves with these very artistic shots, and a great location, and I'm sure making Jonathan very proud, make sure to check out all the images.

I’m the founder and owner of JD Customs USA. I started the business back in 2016 after buying my 2006 Evo 9 MR. I started looking for affordable ignition systems and other parts and decided to make my own. The business has been quickly growing since the beginning, which gives me the ability to do what I love for a living. I currently own a 2013 Nissan GT-R, 2018 STi, 2020 Supra, and a 2006 Evo 9 MR. I enjoy attending car meets and shows as either a spectator or a vendor with the company. I have a passion for JDM sports cars and plan to keep adding to my collection when possible. I also have an addition to titanium and carbon fibre, so all of my cars are covered in both.
I’ve always been interested in cars. From a young age, I had subscriptions to multiple car magazines and enjoyed reading them and keeping up with the newest and hottest cars. When I was finally able to drive, I started modifying my first car, which was a 2003 Dodge Neon SXT. There weren’t very many performance mods I could do to the car since it wasn’t a high-performance motor, so I added simple things to make it look better like underglow lights and basic performance parts. Fast forward to 2015 when I bought my Evo 9. I immediately wanted more power and started adding performance parts. I started going to shows and meeting more car enthusiasts, which fed my passion for high-performance cars.
I wanted to eventually add a Supra to my collection in order to expand into making parts for the platform. I knew the previous owner of my Supra since he attended car shows that we were vending at, so when he put the car up for sale, I knew it was the one I wanted. He had tastefully modified the car and taken very good care of it.
I customised this car because when I buy a car I love making it my own. After having any car for a while, it starts to look more like my style, which is simple and clean. The Supra was wrapped in an Avery Denison Rushing Riptide colour when I got it. The wrap was in decent shape, but I wasn’t able to find any of the wrap available in order to replace a few sections, so I decided to pull it off and reveal the pearl white paint underneath. I then decided to go with forged carbon fibre parts to accent the white paint. I’ve since added a lot of different titanium hardware pieces and forged carbon fibre parts under the hood to clean up the mainly plastic engine compartment.

I think, for now, my car is unique since it has a lot of forged carbon fibre parts from Rexpeed. Some of the parts are not currently available to the public and were only sold to me in order to take pictures to be used as a display on Rexpeed’s site before they release the product to the public. I plan on adding as many forged carbon fibre parts as possible since I love the more exotic look it provides.

I enjoy being able to bring high quality and custom parts to the car scene. Seeing other car enthusiasts running our parts makes me really happy and gives me more fuel for my passion.
Dream car
My dream car has changed over the past few years, but I’ve always wanted a Lamborghini Huracan. I’m not sure if or when I’ll be able to get one because I keep buying other cars. #firstworldproblems
