2004 Subaru WRX

Ive always been into cars since I was a little girl. My parents used to take me to the stock car racing in Bradford, TT races on the Isle of Man and the male role models in my life were always tinkering with cars so I guess it was inevitable the obsession would grow within me.

Hello all,

I'm Louise and I'm from Leeds, West Yorkshire.

Stay-at-home mummy to 4 beautiful kids after being a legal PA for 13 years.

I've always been into cars since I was a little girl. My parents used to take me to the stock car racing in Bradford, and TT races on the Isle of Man and the male role models in my life were always tinkering with cars so I guess it was inevitable the obsession would grow within me.

I always wanted to drive so when I turned 17 I passed my driving test and bought an mk1 fiesta which I absolutely loved! It was only a 950cc but she was mine and she got me launched into the crazy world of car modification and shows. I spent many nights cruising around with my friends which led to meeting my husband! I've had several cars since the fiesta including 3 Novas, and a Renault 5 GT Turbo and eventually I bought my first Subaru Impreza which was a T reg classic 2.0litre sport.

My current car is my 6th Impreza and my favourite one. She's a 2004 WRX blobeye running 225bhp as standard. I haven't modified the engine and I have no plans to. She's my daily driver used mainly to transport my children to and from school which, as you can imagine, turns a few heads!

Vehicle stats: 1994cc, AWD, 2 axle rigid body, 1850kg weight, 225 BHP. Top speed 160mph. Forge blow-off valve. Coloured silicone hoses. Radiator shroud. Lightweight bonnet.

Exterior modifications:-

  • Sti front bumper winglets
  • Front bumper sti splitter
  • Zunsport grilles
  • Splitter rods
  • LED headlight and sidelight bulbs
  • Sti twisted side skirts
  • Side Skirt extensions
  • Rear bumper lips
  • Rear bumper vortex diffuser
  • Roof vortex generator
  • Prodrive rear spoiler
  • Hawkeye rear lights
  • Hawkeye 17-inch alloys
  • Large rear exhaust backbox with straight-through pipe to the front manifold.
  • Tinted windows all round
  • Vinyl subaru graphics

Pops and Bangs remap is being considered for next year as a brand-new turbo with an upgraded intake pipe. I don't think my car will ever be finished as I'm always looking around for more parts to improve her both cosmetically and mechanically. She's my baby and whatever she needs, she gets to the dismay of my husband and bank manager! Lol.

I've had help mechanically with her from a very good friend of mine at Fenton Motorsport in Kippax, Leeds. He looks after her oily bits, MOT etc. I cannot recommend him enough. He's fantastic at what he does and he also builds race cars which he takes around the country competing with.

My husband has also helped me with the cosmetic modifications ive had done on her. I tend to buy the parts, dump them in front of him and say right, crack on then! Ha ha. I do lend a hand though as I'm keen to learn and eventually, I want to be able to do it all myself. I have repainted her entire front end and boot lid myself, which I'm very proud of. I bought the necessary equipment for Christmas last year and taught myself.

Obviously not factory perfect as most of the prep work was done by hand and then painted with a gun and compressor but i'm happy with it and she shines like glass! A lot of blood, sweat and tears were shed in the process - I actually cried like a baby when she was sat on my drive in bits!

I have plans to fully repaint her myself next year with a different colour but I'm still talking myself into that! My friends and family tell me just to do it as I've proved I can by painting not only my car but my husband's Impreza wagon and my eldest daughter's classic Impreza but it still makes me nervous the thought of my car being in a thousand bits whilst I do it!

We are currently members of WYSOC - West Yorkshire Subaru Owners Club which is run by a great bunch of guys with some beautiful Subarus of their own. We meet once a month at a local biker's cafe and have a great time. Everyone is welcome to attend whether you have a subaru or just love the cars themselves. You can find them on Facebook and Instagram.

My car is not a show car, she's being built solely for my enjoyment but I will be attending some car shows with her when they are on such as Scooby Fest and Japfest so I may enter her in some Show and Shine or novice build competitions, I don't know yet but she's just for fun really.

I think I will always have a subaru as they have got to be one of the best all-round cars out there but my dream car, well one of them lol, has got to be a Ford Mustang or Dodge Charger. I'm big on American muscle cars too!
