Are you ready to embark on a captivating journey through the world of automotive modification? Based in the Northwest and currently working as a car detailer and window tint installer at Autoden in Knutsford, a family-run car spares shop, my journey has been nothing short of incredible. With unwavering support from my wife and kids, I've had the time and patience to turn my dream build into a reality.
A Collaborative Journey with Vehiculize
Collaboration is key in the car community, and working closely with Tristan, also known as Vehiculize, has been a game-changer. Growing up surrounded by family members who owned iconic cars and being inspired by the adrenaline-pumping "Fast and Furious" films kindled my passion for the modified lifestyle. I've always been drawn to creativity and the art of crafting something unique.
The Iconic Choice - MX5 NA
Choosing the MX5 NA as the canvas for my build was a no-brainer. This iconic car boasts a perfect 50/50 weight ratio, rear-wheel drive, those iconic pop-up headlights, and a plethora of modification parts readily available. It's the ultimate choice for any enthusiast.
Building My Dream Machine
Owning my MX5 has been a dream come true. Taking it out for a spin brings back memories of my youth when I hoped to one day own a remarkable car. But there's more work to be done, and I take immense pride in what I've achieved so far.

What makes my car truly stand out are the meticulous details. From the eye-catching 50/50 paint scheme to the custom widebody kit with a removable front end, I've left no stone unturned. Even the interior has received a personal touch.
Under the Hood Upgrades
Under the hood, I've swapped out the 1.6 NA engine for a robust 1.8, and over the past winter, I meticulously built a turbo kit featuring a Maxpeedingrods TD04 turbo and RX8 yellow injectors. I even DIY-welded the exhaust manifold. Other upgrades include an uprated fuel pump, a coil-on-plug conversion using Toyota coils and custom wiring, and an oil catch can. Controlling this powerhouse is a ME221 with launch control and a switchable map setup. I've also added a wideband and boost gauge for precise tuning. To keep things clean, I semi-smoothed out the engine bay and tucked away most of the wiring.
Suspension and Wheels
Handling-wise, I've installed SuperPro poly bushes, Maxpeedingrods coilovers, and a Fuji VLS. Plus, I've fitted 25mm wheel spacers all around and opted for Rota Kyusha 15x8 wheels. Inside, I've even sourced seats from a Mk2.5 MX5, and the chameleon tint adds a touch of mystique. What truly sets my build apart, though, is the custom body kit and the removable front end, all crafted with my own hands. I was determined to create something truly unique that wasn't available off the shelf.

The Road Ahead
Every ounce of effort and hard work that went into my build happened right on my driveway, with the invaluable assistance of friends and family. As I look ahead, my future plans include creating a fastback roof, upgrading the exhaust manifold and turbo, and enhancing the suspension with even better coilovers. Perhaps I'll even venture into designing an even wider body kit.
In closing, let my journey serve as a testament to the power of determination and vision. If you can dream it, you can make it a reality. While the path may be filled with blood, sweat, and tears, the reward is beyond measure.
