From New Jersey Roots to California Drift Dreams

My name’s Mark Manansala, originally from Hammonton, New Jersey, now living in Southern California. Growing up, I was always active—riding BMX bikes, ATVs, and eventually gravitating toward cars. Car magazines like Super Street and Import Tuner, alongside websites like Overboost, JSpec, and Zilvia, became my daily escape. My older brother Ernie introduced me to the late ’90s import scene, and we attended local shows weekly, plus events like Car Aisle, NOPI Nationals, and Hot Import Nights.

Cars weren’t just transportation—they were freedom. Watching The Fast and the Furious opened my eyes to the world of drifting, sparking a passion that took me from the East Coast’s ClubLoose track to Southern California’s legendary venues like Willow Springs’ Horse Thief Mile.

Discovering Drifting: ClubLoose and Early Inspirations

My first real taste of drifting was at ClubLoose in Englishtown, New Jersey. The Drift Alliance legends were mesmerizing, and LimeWire-sourced Option videos kept me glued to the screen. ClubLoose’s learning environment was perfect—no fancy parts, just raw skill. The main road course opened opportunities for serious growth, cementing my path in the sport.

The Dream Build: 1999 Toyota Chaser JZX100

This car isn’t just a machine—it’s a dream realized. Growing up playing Gran Turismo and Tokyo Xtreme Racer, the JZX100 Chaser held a special place in my heart. Inspired by Daigo Saito’s D1GP runs, the goal was clear: create a drift-ready car that could handle the streets, track, and stand out visually.

Engine Mods and Performance

  • Engine: Greddy TD06RX, HKS 264 cams, Power FC standalone, Tial 45mm external wastegate, Odyssey Fab oil catch can, Koyo radiator, IS300 electric fans, serial nine engine mounts, oil cooler, polished intake manifold, Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator, custom TIG-welded intercooler piping, Greddy intercooler, ORC twin disk clutch, OEM R154 transmission.

  • Tuning: Unrivaled Tuning

Every rev, spool, and blow-off is a thrill—this setup brings raw power while maintaining Toyota reliability.

Suspension and Handling

  • BC Racing DS Type Coilovers, Cusco camber arms, KTS tension arm, Cusco sway bars, reverse knuckle angle kit, GSF front brake calipers, Serialnine billet rear camber arms, Xccessive Manufacturing rear control arms, Serialnine reinforced rear subframe, PBM Z32 rear calipers, Kunnyz subframe braces, Tomei 2-way differential

The car feels massive yet nimble—perfectly balanced for drifting big, bold 4-doors with precision.

Interior and Safety

  • Saito 6-point roll cage, Buddy Club P1 Evo racing seat, Greddy Profec B, Apexi gauges, AEM AFR gauge, Greddy turbo timer, Serialnine shift knob, Serialnine e-brake button, G-Corporation floor mats

Exterior and Aesthetic Upgrades

  • BN Sports body kit, Carshopspirit eyelids, Origin Lab overfenders & Type 2 hood, Ganador mirrors, Vertex carbon fiber canards, DMAX tail lights, TRD rain visors

  • Wheels: 18x10.5 +12 & 18x11 +12 TE37 Triple Chrome

  • Custom livery by Garagehotcar

Who Built It?

God Hands Garage handled the complete build, refreshing the engine, upgrading suspension, reinforcing the rear subframe, and installing the custom livery. The team’s meticulous work in just two months (with a 12-hour livery install before an event) ensured a machine that performs as good as it looks.

Driving Experience: Nimble, Powerful, and Fun

Driving a right-hand-drive 4-door like this is a dream. Compared to S-Chassis cars, the Chaser is surprisingly agile. Street cruising is smooth, track drifting is precise, and the turbo sounds make every drive an event.

Future Plans

I aim to attend drift events across the U.S., get featured in films or music videos, and share the drifting passion with new audiences, helping grow the community along the way.
