The Volkswagen Corrado replaced and succeeded the Scirocco, both cars representing Volkswagen's flagship high-performance limited-production sports coupe model. The Corrado name is derived from the Spanish verb “correr” which means in English “to run” and became loosely translated as “to run fast.” As with many other Volkswagen models, the Corrado is also the name of a wind current or jetstream.

The Corrado's test prototype name was known as “Typhoon” by Car and Driver magazine. Have you ever seen a car this awesome?, no, neither have I, it blown me away, seriously, some people have got so much dedication and skill, it astounds and amazes me, it's like a car of one of the American car shows, I usually only put 5 or 6 images up for posts, but dam I've put them all up in honour of his work check the slider, every shot is as good as the other, I'm blabbering now sorry, I'll get carried away, check his article out? Ryan, you are my new hero.

Corrado G60

Ryan Hatcher from Milston, foreman at Gavin Jones Group

This was pre-build and it was supercharged, lowered and already very fast

2013:

Was a blue 1991 G60 stage 4 supercharged Corrado on BBS RZs and was lowered. Some general maintenance took place and had no further intentions. Then decided to lower it and put some obnoxiously wide wheels on. A lot of stretching and rolling of the arches happened in which I started to ruin the car.

Late 2013:

Decided to sand the car down and painted it a “real tree” Camo with a hand-painted shark mouth. The interior got stripped out and I fitted a set of red Porsche tombstones. added a straight pipe with a side exhaust for pure noise and attitude. Weicher strut braces were then added and camber shims. The car stayed like this for approx. 1 year.

 2015:

The paint got a bit tatty so it got sanded down to bare metal which took some weeks! A Vegas trip then took place which added a whole lot of ideas. But due to living in the UK and no garage, it was hard to hold back the rust, so I decided to embrace it and acid washed it.

 2016:

I pulled out the tombstones and fitted 2 Kirkey racing seats from America and they are more comfortable than they look! After putting the Kirkey in a fixed position, it was impossible to get in and out of the car so a quick-release steering wheel was fitted. After a year of letting the rust grow, I looked for ways to maintain it. After trying many, many ways, I found that going old school and using engine oil and an old rag was the best solution.

2017:

Another Vegas trip and even more ideas started rolling. During a conversation with a friend, he said a Diesel engine would go “straight in”. With my love of diesel, I was easily persuaded. So I hunted down a PD130 golf and within a few days, the engine was in with the exhaust now located out of the bonnet. The engine was linked to the G60 gearbox and the power steering was gotten rid of and a fresh Ramair filter was added. At this point, the car started to turn heads and became the DRADO.

 2018:

Over a long winter of planning and a friend having a donor Corrado shell, I made the decision to seriously change it up. That’s when Adams' shell came along and a custom fabricated widebody was created. This was built around the custom made work wheels. And as a way of removing all the plastics, the front and rear tubular bumpers were fabricated. As well as the wide body the bumpers were created to mimic the original Corrado shape. After this stage, it was time to acid wash the wide body to blend in with the original rust created.

 2019: (since the photos)

The engine has had a few tweaks and is now running a compound turbo setup. It has had an ECU remap, EGR delete and MAF delete. Full Lexan windows have also been added.
