From Dream to Reality: Who is Josh Link?
My name is Josh Link, and if you’re a car enthusiast, you may have already come across my build, the Ronin Z34, on Instagram. Growing up, I didn’t have much, especially after my dad passed. We didn’t have the budget for luxuries, so I learned to fix things, including cars, out of necessity. By the time I was 16, I’d developed a real love for it—it was like working on a grown-up version of Legos or Erector Sets.

Then, in 2009, Nissan released the 370Z (Z34), and I was instantly captivated. Its wide-body, aggressive styling was unlike anything I’d seen. It felt like the perfect canvas to create something truly special. By 2013, I’d set my sights on making the 370Z my dream car, researching every detail, from mechanical issues to common complaints, to find the ideal model year. In 2015, I became an ASE-certified technician, and by 2016, I was ready. I finally purchased a 2014 Nissan 370Z, six-speed manual, from a Nissan dealership—the dream was within reach.
The Ronin Z34 build is the result of eight years of hard work, dedication, and personal passion. It’s now a fully functional street car that’s just as ready for a spirited track day as it is for a scenic photoshoot. With immediate response, impressive power, and crisp handling, my Z34 is everything I could have hoped for—and more.
Building the Ronin Z34 – A One-of-a-Kind 370Z
The Heart and Soul of a True Car Enthusiast
From the beginning, the goal was simple: create a 370Z that’s both visually stunning and performance-driven. It wasn’t just about adding parts; it was about making each component contribute to a cohesive whole. Over the years, I’ve replaced nearly everything: wheels, lights, spoiler, suspension, custom paint, and interior modifications. No two 370Zs are exactly alike, but this one is truly unique.
Each mod has been carefully selected, with an exhaust system designed to produce a deep tone without rasp, giving the car a distinct growl. Every time I strap into my harness and fire up the engine, I feel that rush of adrenaline. There’s no body roll, it’s planted, and the response is immediate. Spirited drives are an absolute joy in this car, and I still turn back to admire it every time I park.

The Power of Hand-Built Craftsmanship
All the work on my 370Z has been done by me, in my garage, with just hand tools. Every nut and bolt was turned by my hands, and every detail reflects countless hours of labor. There’s sweat, blood, and dedication in every inch of this car, and that bond is something special. For me, this car isn’t just a machine—it’s a lifelong project, a reflection of my passion and persistence.
Why Should You Follow Ronin Z34?
As a car photographer, sharing the journey on Instagram has become as much a part of the build as the car itself. I love capturing the Ronin Z34 in scenic locations and documenting each stage of the project. As the build progressed, the Instagram account began to grow, which led to sponsorships from Braum Racing for seats and Morimoto for lighting. These brands are more than just sponsors—they’ve become partners in the journey.
The social connections have been incredible. I’ve made friends with fellow enthusiasts, shared tips and tricks, and found a community of people who share the same passion. On my Instagram, you’ll find photos and videos detailing each mod, from the biggest changes to the smallest tweaks, all in the hopes of helping others with their builds.
Upcoming Events and Shows
You’ll often find me at car meets, big shows, and events, sharing the Ronin Z34 with others who appreciate the effort that goes into a custom build. Some of the upcoming events I’m planning to attend include:

Stay tuned on Instagram, as I’m always either improving the Z or heading off on a new adventure.
How It All Started: A Passion Inspired by Family
Cars have always been in my blood. Growing up, my dad was constantly working on his early muscle cars in the garage. We’d go to Englishtown Raceway Park in New Jersey to watch drag races, monster trucks, and top-fuel cars roar down the track. I’ll never forget the feeling—the bleachers shaking, my chest pounding with the roar of the engines. I was hooked from the very start.
When I got my driver’s license, the excitement only grew. My friends and I would push each other and our cars, constantly learning and competing to see who could get the most out of what we had. Those memories still fuel my passion today.
Unique Features of the Ronin Z34

-
Titanium Hardware: Replacing factory hardware with titanium for that premium touch.
-
Carbon Fiber Upgrades: Adding more carbon fiber details to both the interior and exterior, including body panels.
This build is a lifelong journey, and I can’t wait to see how it evolves over time.

I want to shout out to Braum Racing for the seats and Morimoto Lighting for the lights—two brands I highly recommend for anyone looking to upgrade their ride. I’m also grateful to the friends and family who have supported me every step of the way.
And of course, a huge thanks to the car community for embracing Ronin Z34 and sharing in the excitement of this build.
