1993 LS Swapped Mazda RX7 Adam Long

This car already had the swap done. I wasn't looking for a rotary-powered version. I'm not against rotaries, but I've always liked the sound and power potential of the LSX. The older gentleman I picked it up from gave me a good starting point, and I just took off from there.

I'm 38 years old. Born and raised in the south(Alabama/Mississippi). I've been into cars since I was 16 years old. I currently manage a business called Turbolab Racing and Performance. My hobbies include doing car activities, cruising through the mountains in my RZR Pro XP4, and fishing with my family.

I'm a fast and furious kid. I didn't know you could modify cars as they did or that a lifestyle like that existed until I saw the movie in theatres. I was hooked from the moment I left the parking lot. I sold my truck(1994 Toyota 4x4) and bought a 1994 Honda Prelude S. I did everything I could to make it emulate the cars I saw in the movie. It was loud, annoying, and slow as could be, but I loved it.

I've wanted an FD since I was in my early 20s. The opportunity to buy one has come and gone throughout my life. Every time one would pop up and I could afford it, something in life would get in the way. That was until this one fell in my lap. The curves of the car, the rounded simplistic interior, and the small nature of the car, all of these are things that lured me to this chassis.

This car already had the swap done. I wasn't looking for a rotary-powered version. I'm not against rotaries, but I've always liked the sound and power potential of the LSX. The older gentleman I picked it up from gave me a good starting point, and I just took off from there. This car had no financial barriers for me. I told myself if I could get it, I would do everything to this car that I've never done to any of my other cars in the past. Paint, interior, custom engine bay, suspension...all of it.

In my area, I feel like a celebrity. Every meet I go to, people crowd me, ask to take photos or follow me until I park. I always like explaining my mods and why I chose this or that. It makes me proud to see that other people appreciate my taste in mods. In the end, though, I built this for myself. For me to enjoy and look at it.

I think the paint colour, the interior colour, the wheels and the suspension combo are what make this car stand out from the rest. The engine is not what I would call rare or uncommon. The brake colour is from a newer STI, the paint colour is from an Audi. The wheels are the less common colour combo.

Most of the work was performed by Turbolab. The previous owner performed the swap. I had a lot to fix when I bought it. I've gotten to the age where I value my time with my family more than working a car. I'm not embarrassed or ashamed. I've turned wrenches plenty in my life and donated blood to the car gods on many occasions. Nowadays, I can afford to pay someone and have the luxury of working for a top-rated tuner shop in Utah. I've overseen and helped with a lot of modifications of this car including doing the cam swap.

My next few mods include a full big brake kit front and rear and a nitrous kit. I've got it really close to where I want it now. Those mods would be so that I can continue to look forward to mods.

Advice

Ignore the rotary purists. If you like the chassis, but not the engine, swap it. In the end, it's your money. Spend it how you like. You'll never make everyone happy, so just make yourself happy.

Shout Out

Shoutout to Turbolab Racing and Performance for the build. We have put a lot of time into this car on my dime and it shows.

I've met my wife and several best friends through the car world. It's been a heavy part of my life since high school. I even stayed active when I was in the military. I couldn't imagine being where I am today if I had given up these money pits back in the day and just "invested"...I would probably be rich, but bored.

Dream Car

My dream car is a Saleen S7. I've loved them for so long. It's a car that's truly unattainable for me, which makes it my perfect dream car.
