Daniel Moreau - 1999 Nissan Silvia S15 Spec S
Originally I was looking for an S13 hatch. I wanted to get one, keep the pop-ups and make it dirty nasty low with a BN kit and some hype wheels. Like the kind of car, you see street drifting with the $uicide Boys playing in the background.

I’m 29 years old and I'm from Long Beach California. I have a 2003 Pontiac Gran Prix, just kidding its a 1999 Nissan Silvia S15 Spec S. My Instagram is @MBNS15 and not in an arrogant way or anything, just when I first got the car in 2018 that phrase “must be niceeeeee” was popular and it was pretty much the first thing everyone said when they found out. It was annoying, I recently changed my IG from @BRZslut, which is how most of my friends and followers know me, that name and car are off to Valhalla now.
The photographer, @MR2mivin, he's a good friend of mine and to the community. He has the gnarliest MR2 and is an amazing photographer, he also has this weird thing he does where he can just get all the best cars in one spot and get shots that look like they should be in Nissan dealerships. He knows everyone worthwhile and gets the best people together, working with him always leads to amazing things.
A little about me, well I was born and raised in Long Beach California. I’ve worked in the industry a bit, a few years doing marketing and events for Spec-D Tuning, PasswordJDM, and a few shops, Studio RSR and Concept 3 Performance. I went to all the local car shows with my BRZ that I built up and met a lot of people and now I'm a service writer at a Nissan dealership.
Honestly, I'd have to say it was the Need for Speed games, especially the Underground and Underground 2 games. They had the best soundtracks, Lil Jon and the East Side Bows, Chingy, T.I and that one song from Snoop Dogg and the Doors that was made for the game. And then the actual cars in the game were just the standard tuner cars. Civics, S13s, Dodge Neons, they all seemed so attainable and like real cars that real people would build and you could see on the street. That game really influenced the style that I project onto my cars. The thing that encourages me most is just building something that I can have the most fun in and always love. I want to make the best thing that I can for me and drive the shit out of it.
Originally I was looking for an S13 hatch. I wanted to get one, keep the pop-ups and make it dirty nasty low with a BN kit and some hype wheels. Like the kind of car, you see street drifting with the $uicide Boys playing in the background. That's what I started off looking for. As I was looking a friend of mine told me about the 15 and it was up for sale at a good price. I went to check it out and there was my Spec S there and also a grey Spec R. The Spec R had the turbo but the body wasn't as nice and the interior was a little messed up. The Spec S had a clean body, and a pristine interior, all original black dash, UNCRACKED, and dark blue seats. It started up, I gave the guy some money and he handed me the keys and that was that. The first S chassis I ever owned and it wasn't clapped out.
The reason I customized it was to just make it my own. I wanted an S Chassis with a BN kit and that's what I'm doing with it. I love driving, I love cruising with my friends and getting food, boba or whatever. Modding the car makes the drive to the spot just as fun as hanging out there.
Owning and driving this car is pretty cool. It feels good to own one of these. There are a few here in SoCal that I know of. I got called Freshkicks a lot after he picked one up. But other than that I can't say I have any complaints. I love that car and it feels good to have one of my own.
Advice/Tips
The advice I have for anyone wanting to build a car, be a part of the scene or that loves cars is to just do whatever you want to do with it. Track it, drift it, stance it whatever. It doesn't matter what you want to do with it, just do it in the best way that you can. Don't cheap out and cut corners, do it right and do it right the first time and if you keep that in mind it doesn't matter what anyone has to say, the car speaks for itself and no one can really argue with that. Oh but I did lie a little, it does matter what you want to do with the car a little. If you want a car to go to rake overs and to swing, you can fuck right off and give up. Takeover kids are trash and that scene needs to die already.
As of right now, it's not that unique, there's nothing too crazy about it. The wheels pop nicely against the white but it's just kind of a clean car. The body is on point, it sits nice and just looks good. Yeah it's an S15 in the states and they are rare here but as for the mods on it, probably just the wheels.

Spec List
Engine:
Deadass I only have an HKS Hi-Power Silent cat back. I've planned on turboing since the day I bought it and just now got all the funds together to do it. I didn't want to modify it NA and then have to buy a bunch of parts again once it was boosted. Plus, right now the AC blows cold and I get like 35-40 miles a gallon.
Interior:
The previous owner in japan put this Japanese Kenwood single din radio that doesn't get USA frequencies and some ambient lights under the seats and aside from the wooden Akatsuki shift knob my girl got me it's all OEM original.
Exterior:
Alright, I can actually say something here,
- BN Sports Type 2 Front and Rear Bumper and Side Skirts.
The Wing is OEM and has a working 3rd brake light in it, rather than in the back window.
Wheels:
- 18x9.5 Gramlights 57DR in 2020 Sputter Blue.
Suspension:
- Yellow speed Racing Dynamic Pro Sport Coilovers
Brakes:
OEM, I gotta upgrade those soon.
For everything mechanical Concept 3 performance does everything. Will worked on my BRZ and boosted and flex fueled, and before I got hit I was about to make it to 100k miles. Hands down that's the place I trust the most.
For the future, there's a lot. First thing is to boost it and make anywhere from 350-400whp. I think that would be enough to use all of it and not blow up with the right supporting mods. I'm a big fanboy of BLITZ and that car will eventually have everything they make for it. After that, I want to repaint it, make it stand out a little more and pay homage to the JDM roots and then if I can actually get a set and affordable price, some BLITZ 03s. Follow me and Instagram to see how it comes out *shameless self-plug*
Groups
For groups, officially I'm part of Lost Royalty, this group out of Canada, with @Derpyfrs, @Supbirdy and a few guys down here @mvrco_b and @koreanbrz. But I hang out with everyone. I work with @BootyHustlers a lot, as long as you're cool it doesn't matter what group you're from.
I got a lot out of the car scene. It really shaped who I was and where I was going. I was 25, just lost my dad and not sure of what I was going to do. That was when I got a job at Spec-D tuning not knowing anything about marketing except for having like 30,000 followers on Instagram. And from there I just got deeper into the industry. I met some of the best people I have the honour of calling my friend, and some of the shittiest people I've ever met but that comes with everything. I owe the scene pretty much everything that got me to where I am today and if I had to go back, I'd do it all again.

My dream car, I don't really have like “Dream Cars” but I have a lot of ideas for builds that I would love. I want a hardtop Cadillac XLR slammed on some TE37s. I want a MK4 Supra and to put an LS in it so I can pop my hood and make everyone throw up. I think that'd be cool. Another car I want is the old BMW 850i’s, with the pop-ups and hidden headlight thing. There was one in my neighbourhood I saw for years, and then one day it was gone and I haven't seen it since.
