Meet Dominic Reynolds: A Passion for Cars and Stance Culture

My name is Dominic Reynolds, and I’m a 19-year-old car enthusiast from North Carolina. I work full-time at a car wash and do private detailing on the side. Cars aren’t just a hobby for me—they’re a lifestyle. I’m deeply involved in car culture, especially stance cars, and I attend shows all over the East Coast. From a young age, I’ve been hooked on the car scene, thanks to the influence of my older brother.

A Family Tradition: The Origins of a Car Enthusiast

My journey into the car world began in 2004 when my older brother introduced me to the scene. He owned the first right-hand-drive Integra on the East Coast, and he’d take me to car shows, igniting my passion. Watching "Fast & Furious" with him also played a huge role—Paul Walker’s iconic 350Z with the big single turbo left a lasting impression on me. The sound of that turbocharged engine had me hooked on cars forever.

The Build: Turning a Dream into Reality

Choosing the BMW 335i N54

I chose the BMW 335i with the N54 engine because it’s a solid platform that’s easy to modify for impressive gains. The car looks great, there are tons of aftermarket parts available, and it’s quick straight out of the factory. Once I had the car, I knew I wanted to build something special.

The Inspiration: Widebody Dreams

The inspiration for my build came from a widebody 350Z I saw, which featured a molded Rocket Bunny kit and Weds Kranze LXZ wheels. Seeing that car sparked an idea: Why not put those same wheels on my 335i and go all out with a Pandem Rocket Bunny kit from Pandem? That’s when the real journey began.

The Unique Touches: What Sets This Build Apart

Owning this car feels incredible. It’s not the most reliable, but it turns heads everywhere I go, from local streets to car shows. My 335i stands out because I’m the only one running Weds Kranze LXZ wheels on an E92. The combination of these wheels with the Pandem widebody kit makes the car truly unique.

The Work Behind the Build

I’ve had a lot of help with this build from various shops, especially for the custom work that was beyond my capabilities. However, I’ve done my fair share too—like installing the interior trim, shift knob, and other small details. This car has been a true labor of love, and every modification has been carefully planned and executed.

Future Plans: What’s Next for the 335i?

The journey isn’t over yet. I’m planning on adding a carbon fiber trunk and possibly doing more engine work, like installing a bigger turbo and creating a cleaner motor setup. The build continues to evolve, and I’m excited to see where it goes next.

Advice for Fellow Enthusiasts

If you want to keep a car like this reliable, make sure you maintain it well, don’t drive recklessly, and avoid racing. The 335i can be a solid car if you treat it right. As for wide-body builds, be prepared for a challenge. Getting the fitment perfect on a Pandem widebody kit isn’t easy. The high-radius fenders and flat over-fenders mean you’ll need custom control arms and air ride to achieve the perfect stance.

The Car Scene: More Than Just Cars

Being part of the car scene has brought me lifelong friendships. Through @battlegang, a car group and clothing brand based on the East Coast, I’ve met people who are more than just friends—they’re family. The car scene is about community, and I’m grateful for the connections I’ve made.

Dream Car: Pandem Widebody GTR R35

My ultimate dream car is a Pandem widebody GTR R35. I’ve always had a soft spot for the GTR, and the idea of a widebody version takes it to a whole new level

Paul Doherty Author, Editor, C.E.O, Born in Manchester and one of six brothers, Paul Doherty grew up in a family where a love for cars was second nature, following in his mechanic father's footsteps. With a lifelong passion for car modifications, he spent years selling cars and vans while balancing a career as a retail manager and later owning a chain of furniture shops. As a single dad to three, Paul’s dedication led him to create Stance Auto Magazine to celebrate grassroots car builders. The magazine, one of the last printed for modified cars, is devoted to showcasing everyday builders who create their projects from scratch, often in humble home garages. Driven by passion more than profit, Paul’s work allows car enthusiasts to see their dreams featured in a magazine that puts people, not money, first.
