Meet Eric Santillan – From Landscaping to Car Shows
Hi, my name is Eric Santillan. I own a 2019 Infiniti Q50, and I’m from Williams, California—a small farm town in Northern California. I’m 45 years old and run a small landscaping business. When I’m not cutting grass, you’ll usually catch me at car shows or local Cars and Coffee meets.
From Lowrider Dreams to a Modern VIP Build
I’ve always been into cars. I started as a fan of lowrider cars and bikes. I used to dream about building something special with my kids. When my oldest son, Eric Jr., was younger, I built a lowrider bike. Seventeen years later, my younger son Phillip and I got back into the scene, attending car meets together. That’s when I started building my Q50. Phillip even wrapped the car himself.
Building the Infiniti Q50 – More Than a Daily Driver
I originally planned to keep the Q50 as a clean daily. But the more meets and shows I attended, the deeper I got into the build. I didn’t set out to build a Q50 specifically—it just sort of happened. Once I added airbags, the transformation really began.
I still have big plans for the car, including a wide-body kit and a carbon fiber engine bay setup. Fun fact: I passed my driver’s test in a minivan. My first modified car was a 2000 Honda Civic EX with coilovers, wheels, and clear lights. Simple but effective. The Q50, though, changed everything.
Mistakes Made, Lessons Learned
One mistake I made early on was not researching wheel specifications carefully. My first set of wheels ended up on my son’s 350Z because they were too wide for the Q. Lesson learned—know your specs.
The Heart of a Custom Infiniti Q50 Build
What makes my Q50 stand out is the level of customization and the attention to detail—especially in the places most people overlook.
Trunk Setup That Turns Heads
The trunk is a fully custom design featuring a sunken air tank, symmetrical VIAIR compressors, custom hardlines, LED-lit acrylic panels, and real honeycomb carbon fiber inlays that tie in with the rest of the car. It’s not off-the-shelf—everything is bespoke.
VIP Interior Perfection
The interior is on another level. Custom carbon fiber tables and a rear center console were built specifically for this car. The rear console includes a custom bottle holder, hookah stand, USB ports, and LED lighting. Junction Produce neck pads and pillows add the perfect VIP touch. Everything blends function and elegance seamlessly.
Lighting That Stands Alone
My headlight setup is just as unique. All the running lights—including the DRL eyebrow, DRL Half-Moon, bumper, mirrors, and front emblem—have been upgraded with RGBW LEDs. These produce a true white running light and feature a matching Sharigan Halo. All lenses are frosted for that halo-style diffused look. The system includes multiple startup/shutdown animations and sequential turn signals—all controlled via the BlueGhozt App.

Giving Back and Building the Car Community
The car scene has done more for me than I ever imagined. It's given me growth and purpose. I’ve met incredible sponsors, formed friendships that feel like family, and become a mentor to others starting their builds. I even helped senior high school students with a project car show.
This isn’t just about my Infiniti—it’s about community, mentorship, and creating something meaningful.
What’s Next?
Once the Q is complete, I plan to bag my wife’s 2024 Acura MDX. And my dream? Owning a Nissan GTR one day
