Hi all,
I'm Jack, you probably know me from my 330bhp Glanza feature.

Here's my other car. A 1993 Vauxhall Cavalier Turbo 4x4 as it left the factory. And here's the story as to why and how I got to own this car.
As a little child my mum had a Mk2 Cavalier ex taxi with moon miles, from what I remember it was pretty rusty but she seemed to love this car. My dad also had a Mk3 V6 manual at the same time, the turbo was always the next one up they both wanted. But even back then, they were a rare car. But because they wanted one, that naturally filtered down to me and it became my attainable dream car from when I was about 4, had models of the car on my shelf in diamond black and always just lusted after a black turbo. Unfortunately a little while later, mum lost her fight to breast cancer so all of the plans they had made came to a halt. This included the infamous Cavalier Turbo.
As I got older and able to actually own real cars not just models I said to Dad that I'm going to find the best possible example of a Cavalier Turbo that exists. Put the feelers out on the owners clubs and didn't really get the response I wanted, good cars but with issues like rotten arches, high miles or porous cylinder heads.
But in my messages on Facebook lay this car, spoke with the owner and it seemed to fit the bill, bonus being its the exact same colour as the little model I had as a kid! From the pictures it looked seriously cleaned, asked a few in the know and I was reassured it was pretty immaculate, only issue was in Northern Ireland, some 500miles away!
So a year of back and forth messages, sorting out the logistics of travelling there and a lot of personal life things getting in the way, we finally made the journey with a trailer in tow.
I was nervous the entire time on the full days travelling we did, didn't sleep a winker at all that night. We got to where the car was located and the roller shutter door opened and I was like a boy at Christmas, it was beautifully well kept and couldn't find anything at all wrong with it. It was like going back in time to 1993!
Onto the car, she's a very early turbo, registered 14th January 1993 on a K reg and is still as it came from the factory, 45k miles from new in almost 26yrs! There's not a mark or blemish on the bodywork and the rear seats have never ever been sat in. It's amazing that a car this old still has that new car smell. It uses the infamous C20LET engine which is essentially a redtop with a turbo, coupled with the 6 speed F28 gearbox and the 4x4 system. They run around 200bhp which although it's no 330bhp Glanza, it's enough to not be a liability on the road. For example, it will comfortably sit at 150mph without much sweat, just astonishing for an old car. A car that when it was new, the average car on the road would struggle to do over 110mph!
I've never taken the Cavalier to any shows, don't have much time spare to dig her out of hibernation. Although we are planning on going to VBOA rally 2021 in this car as that's my favourite Vauxhall show to go. The best clubs that I frequently visit for this car are Vauxhall Cavalier Owners Network and the Cavalier Turbo Owners. Both extremely good groups and I've made a lot of friends for life on them.
